A friend of mine found the dress she wants and she just texted me to tell me that the lady at the shop offered her 20% off the regular price of the dress, if she wanted to buy the sample.
Now I don’t know for sure, but I thought that if one were to buy a sample dress, the savings would be more then 20%. 20% seems low for something that has been tried on over and over again, I was thinking more like 40%ish.
Can anyone shine some light?

That is a pretty small discount especially if the dress looks like it has been tried on by a lot of brides. Has she checked into having a replica made? Jasmine’s Bridal and Dressilyme come with pretty good recommendations from brides here on the Bee. I found a replica of my $800 Alfred Angelo dress for $300 through Dressilyme.

I bought a sample and saved 75%… In my case, the store was no longer going to carry the designer, so they wanted to clear the dresses. Maybe if its a newer dress or the store would have to order a new dress to replace the sample, the discount wouldn’t be as great? Though you can usually get anywhere from 10% to 20% just as a buy the first time you are in the shop discount…
I would advise your friend to either negotiate or walk.

I bought my dress, a sample off the rack, for 40% off what it would cost to order a new one, so that seems a little low to me… I’d tell her to keep looking!
