My cousin from europe is doing a stint in the US & next month she will be celebrating her birthday in Miami, for 10 days. I know which hostel she is staying at & was wanting to organise something to be sent there for when she arrives. I’m In Australia so posting from here would cost a bomb so thining of organising through an american site.
She will be turning 22. I want the gift to be cool. American. Something she will smile/laugh at.
Anyone have any ideas for gifts / recomendations for US sites to use?
Any help appreciated!!

What kind of thing does she like? Are you wanting to do something edible?

@Jamieg: Edible sounds good! Maybe chocolate? And alcohol?
Or maybe an american themed gift of somesort/ maybe paying homage to Miami?

I have no ideas for Miami themes, but I think you should subscribe to groupon, and living social. You can sign up for them to send you ‘deals’ and you just select the city of Miami. it will mostly be local stuff, and you won’t break the bank.

I only have 3 weeks to organise so I prefer to have something concrete. Can anyone recommend a reputable company who delivers chocies & bubbles?

@Nic01: How about amazon.com? Large variety of things–I send my family presents for Christmas, etc. in America while I am in another country.

Shari’s Berries does chocolates and stuff.

@Nic01: As PP suggested, Shari’s Berries is great as well as Edible arrangements& Cheryl’s Cookies.
I have used all 3 of the above companies and recommend them.
I haven’t used either of these 2 companies before, but they deliver wine & chocolates and wine with cheese/chocolate/fruit etc…
(person must be present to sign for it)
I know you said she is going to be here in June-but depending on if it is late in the month into July, our Independence Day is on July 4th .
I don’t think LivingSocial or Groupon would work in this situation because they can’t give you a definite date of delivery. I ordered 3 items from Groupon 2 weeks ago and still haven’t received them.

Check out the company proflowers. They have affiliates that do things like chocolate and I’ve always have great experiences with them and their flowers are the best quality and last so long.

I would ask the hostel if this is something that’s ok. Hosels in general tend to be less extensive and offer fewer services in the states than abroad, so you might just want to email them and make sure that it’s cool for you to have something delivered to them for someone else.

Agree with PP… hostels in the US are not anywhere near “hotel” status, so there may not be someone available to receive the package/hold it for your cousin.

@MexiPino: Good idea bees, I’ll email them tonight & ensure they are happy to accept the delivery on her behalf. Fingers crossed!

@crayfish: I’ve just heard back from them & they don’t actually accept deliveries on behalf of their guests. There goes that idea…boo.
