    Hello bees!

Today we have decided to tackle the wedding expenses list and talk about the food.  We are having our ceremony at 3PM and cocktails at 6PM with a plated dinner service at 7PM.  We want to do hors d'oeuvres during the cocktail hour, but does ANYONE have any advice on how to prevent certain guests from stampeding the servers?  We will probably only be having 3 items and there are always those people that type 6 or 7 and then one person is left with none when the servers get to the back of the crowd.

Any advice is greatly appreciated <3

Hmmm... well there's basic etiquette but you can't get everyone to follow it ;)

Maybe there is too much time in between your events, or can you up the app options and amounts so everyone can eat some?

My only advice would be to let the servers know that they should movearound a lot lol. We are having passed hor dourves also and I'm counting on my family to not completely embarrass me :D. Who knows though, people get crazy when free stuff is being passed out. Haha

Have the servers carry tongs and actually serve the guests, If they are in charge of placing one or two pieces on the guest's plate, or napkin, they can move on after that.

I would do one stationary display and two passed, if you think people will be starving. That, and see if you can have bowls of nuts at the bar.

I think as long as you have enough pieces for everyone you will be fine. Unfortunately, there is no polite way for you to dictate how many each person can take, but I'm sure your venue can give you advice on how many pieces you need for the number of people you are having. If price is an issue (because I know appetizers can get really expensive) you might consider having stations with cheese, crackers, fruit etc. to supplement a smaller number of passed appetizers because it would probably be less expensive.
