    Hello everyone

I need some help/suggestions of roman catholic churches either in Manhattan or northern NJ for my wedding ceremony.  I would prefer Manhattan since my reception will be in Manhattan.  I've been doing my research online and it seems most churches in NY charge a fee which was a surprise to me.  I knew that churches usually have a suggested donation but I didn't think it would be so much.  I'm talking $1500 up to $2500.  And that doesn't include fees for the cantor and pianist.  I'm trying to save where I can but it's getting really hard.  My FI tells me not to stress over it but I can't help it.  I feel like between the two of us, I'm the only one stressing about anything which leads me to wonder if he's even thinking about the wedding at all (but this is another issue and topic).  Anyway, I'm hoping someone out there would be able to help me regarding this.  Can you let me know which churches have a reasonable fee ($1000 or less)?

We are (I am) planning on going to visit some of the churches to talk to the priests and get a better idea on what is required and etc.  But it would be helpful if I can narrow it down to a handful of churches.

    Thank you all in advance!

@Pappoo78:  I just noticed this post so not sure if this is irrelevant by now or not but...

I grew up Catholic in Northern NJ, so I can't help you with Manhattan but I do know some in NJ. I don't know the fees though, so I will just tell you what I know.

In Ridgewood, there is Mount Carmel, which is pretty big and very beautiful - there's this large, very tall gold chuppah thing (for lack of better description, ha) over the altar. I have a friend getting married there this fall.

I went to a church called Church of the Presentation in Upper Saddle River. Not as asthetically pleasing as Mount Carmel but oh what a loving and welcoming church! Again I don't know the fees, but I think (unless it's changed drastically since I went there) you would have a wonderful experience getting married there.

    Good luck!
