Hello all! After obsessing over Mori Lee 2607 for about a year before I got engaged, I tried it on and was disappointed. The neckline is totally different than the picture, and the lace just doesn’t look good on my short upper body… Still, I really liked it and thought it was “the” dress…until I tried on Allure 8955. I had the moment in that dress. I thought that was it. But then I went home and started comparing photos…and now I’m back to square one. My theme is very old fashioned and traditional, using my grandmother’s veil, so I think the Mori Lee fits what I was going for better. But the Allure is just… I just love it. I would add straps to the Allure gown so it wasn’t strapless. I can’t decide between the dress that “fits” what I was imagining, or the dress that wowed me! Help!
Mori Lee gown:
Allure gown (I would add straps and get it in ivory, not champagne):

I love the top of the Allure gown. I’m not a big ruffles fan but they are pretty (I also really like it in champagne actually!). I agree that the Allure doesn’t fit your envisioned theme so much though. Maybe if you aren’t sure on either then you need to keep shopping?

The Allure is a GORGEOUS dress on you – look at that smile! I don’t think that the Allure is that nontraditional – I think you could easily fit it into a more ‘traditional’ venue and feel.

I vote for the Allure dress.
The other dress may fit your vision, but the Allure dress makes you feel like a million bucks, and I think that’s much more important. I also think the Allure gown would still fit your vision.

I’m short waisted too. You will be beautiful in either, but I vote allure!

I love you in the mori lee, but You need yo wear what feels best. I think the allure is also a beautiful gown, especially with sleeves! I love sleeves!

You look beautiful in both, but you should go with your gut. Try to forget about the theme or the general ambiance you are trying to create for the day; 40 years from now you probably won’t even remember if your theme was traditional or not.
To me, for my personal taste, I prefer the first one; I love the neckline and classic draping of the skirt. But if you had “the moment” in the second dress, that trumps everything. You could always add a veil or a really classic ivory bouquet if you want it to look more traditional.

I prefer the first one. The second one has too much going on IMO and then adding straps just sounds like even more…

Allure!!! Wow!!! I think your moment means something. I also think the Allure is more unique. I’m really not the right person to ask because I also have an allure! 😛
Both look stunning on you. But don’t be afraid to get the one you love! It still works with the traditional theme!

I gasped at the second one. The first is pretty, but the Allure has a wow factor.

Thank you so much for all the advice! It seems like we’re still tied. lol I’ve been to three shops and tried on over 25 gowns, and these were the best by far. I don’t want to keep shopping, and I think the allure gown is it! I will pair it with my grandmother’s veil which is floor length chantilly lace so I think it will still look classic with that… However, i do miss the lace on the front and back that is on the Mori Lee. Hm.

I also gasped at the second one! It definitely has the wow factor that the first one is missing.

The Mori Lee looks STUNNING on you. I think it works better for your body.
And this is coming from someone who is an Allure bride herself.

One of the strap choices I was looking at…
