I measured my envelope and made a custom paper size in Word to match that. Then I just typed in the address where I wanted it to print on the page. However, when it actually printed on the envelope, instead of centered toward the bottom, it printed a little off center toward the top. Hopefully I’m explaining this correctly 🙂
Anyway, does anyone know how to do this where it’ll print where you want on the front of the envelope? We also need to print our return address on the back flap. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

I had the same problems with word. I could not come up with an easy solution to it- i just kept doing test run after test run after test run, playing around with the margins. Basically, even if the envelope was 4 x 9 I had to lie about it to the computer. Once it finally worked out I wrote down the crazy margins and kept them. I wish I had better advice. This was the worst part of making my own invitations! Good luck!

Can you make some test sheets out of copy paper cut down to the size of your envelope, and just experiment with different placement in the Word doc? I’m sure you’ll get a feel for if it needs to be a little lower, a little more to the left, etc….. Once you find a placement you’re happy with, it should stay consistent from print to print!

I’m not sure if you’ve done it, but you probably need to change the paper size on your printer properties as well. After you hit print in Word and it shows you which printer to print to, you can click properties and change the paper size.

Deonise–nope, hadn’t done that. It worked great!! Now I just need to test out printing on the back flap.

what are your envelope sizes??? I might be able to send you my template if you have 5.25×7.25 and depending on the type of printer you use. 🙂

babagrlshell–my envelopes are about 5.5X7.8. Thanks but I got it to work!! I used the "index card 5X8" setting and both the front and back look great! Thanks everyone!
