Hi ladies! I’ve been searching through this site for some ideas on a setting for a ring I inherited. I must say, there are some fabulous rings on this site! The center diamond is old european cut. My boyfriend and i took it to a jewler and I’m having them set this in a cushion halo. I know i want diamonds on the band, however i can’t decide if i want them on the 4 things that hold up the ring. (sorry i’m not familiar with ring terminology!). Do any of you have this type of setting and prefer with diamonds or without?
this is a picture of the ring that has been passed down to me. I am only taking the center diamond out. Planning to put a colored stone in the center of this one day….

I love that ring! It will also look fabulous with a colored gemstone in it as a RHR!
I don’t have a halo ring, so I have no actual input except to say I think I’d like it better without the stones on the prongs as well!

Thanks all! Yes it is a beautiful ring and has matching earrings, hehe. I can’t wait to have it transformed into my engagement ring and have a stone added so I can wear both!
@lotlot – thanks! I didnt know if prongs were what the ring sits on or the little things on top of the ring to hold it in place

@sshipp1983: those 4 things are actually called stems. As for pave on the stems, it’s really a personal preference. It’s extra cost and maintenance, but also extra bling. You won’t see the stems at all times anyway, but if you want them blinged out, go for it.
