Holy cow that is sooooo cool & exciting!  Congratulations! Usually I’m mad that someone got such a great deal & I didn’t haha (jk) but it sounds like both of you truly deserve the fabulous deal & that gorgeous diamond.  I’m truly genuinely happy & really excited for you! That’s just so neat! The setting?  Hmmmm? Why don’t you just keep it as is for a while, shop around a lot & see if you find anything that you can’t live without & is reasonably priced,  and decide later. There’s no reason to rush the decision. . .you have an incredible diamond that is the show case of the ring (solitaire) so just enjoy it for a little bit.  Maybe save up for a setting for your next anniversary. Obviously you’ve learned first hand that good things come to those that wait. Again,  I’m really happy for you & I’m glad that you guys both got such a great deal. I like your story 🙂

megan.knapp.58:  Wasn’t a rant at all!  Honestly, I think the setting is beautiful and anything else would detract from the gorgeous dream diamond you recieved. A 2+ carat stone doesn’t need anything else! Maybe you could get another stacker ring for your next anniversary? Or if you did have your heart set on a different setting, why not keep it simple and do a classic, traditional solitare setting with two baguettes on the side?

My sister in law has a similar sized stone with the side baguettes in the setting and it is amazing! Very simple, elegant, and classy.

This isn’t her ring, but you get the idea 🙂

megan.knapp.58:  These two would look great if you like black diamonds. I love the setting/prongs in the second pic.

megan.knapp.58:  I hear ya! I have two graduate school student loans I’ll be paying for the rest of my life LOL I am sure you can find something reasonable within y’alls price range. Then again, you already have a BEAUTIFUL ering and wedding band. Oh, and an AMAZING husband!

I got my stacker ring (the middle one) at a pawn shop for $100! I love getting a good deal on vintage rings!

Gorgeous ring!!! I would either leave it as is and add a diamond eternity band or go with the setting with side baggettes PP suggested.

It is gorgeous! Definitely a fan of keeping it as is and adding a band with black stones, I think it would look amazing! Let us know if go that route and when you find something!

megan.knapp.58:  I’ve been to Fort Hood! I had an uncle stationed there and an ex-boyfriend (many moons ago)
