Kendrao:  Well, depending on how many days you’re staying and where you’re flying in from, Puerto Vallarta has adults only, all inclusives that run about $1000/4 days (includes airfare so if you add another 4 days, it’d be another $500ish?)

Kendrao:  I don’t know if this is allowed, but have you considered going on a cruise? They have itineraries that leave from the US so you could save money on airfare, could see lots of tropical desinations that you haven’t been to before, all meals are included, and the larger lines have drink packages so that would be all included as well.

We’ve never experienced problems with the beds, but the room stewards will switch out pillows (down to cotton or cotton to down) and add memory foam egg crate toppers if you just ask.

I’m partial to Royal Caribbean as sometimes I get motion sickness-y and they have larger boats that move less, but also check out Norweigian and Celebrity lines.

I think bad reviews aren’t necessarily a dealbreaker. Some of them are random circumstances, and one bad experience from someone shouldn’t decide where you go! That being said…Here’s an option!

Iberostar Grand Bavaro Hotel

I wouldn’t base everything off reviews, since a lot of the time, it’s just a single bad experience or circumstance. But I love the Dominican Republic and I hear Bavaro’s all inclusives are great!

Kendrao:  definitely check out the Domincan Republic. It’s very affordable and they have tons of all-inclusive resorts. Go to http://www.tripadvisor.com to check them out

Kendrao:  for me it helps to see what other services the resorts offer – such as water sports, day trips, excursions etc. from there too, i figure out whats AROUND the hotel – restaurants, night life etc. that helps on choosing a hotel. as for country/island are you only considering the caribbean? are you interested in say going to south america? hawaii perhaps? if you’re spending $5K on hotel, does that include flights? extras (shopping, day trips etc). are you going for a week? two weeks? as for me – i’ve been to numerous islands the the caribbean and my fav hands down is turks and caicos. lots of exclusive hotels on Provo island. I stayed on Grand Turk as its a diving island (plus cruise ships dock there for the day). You can always hit up a travel agency and see what they would recommend

Agreed with Dominican Republic. We stayed at Excellence Punta Cana and it was AMAZING- the best all inclusive i’ve been to. My only reservation is that the sea there is a little rough but still great to go in. It came around $5000 equivalent when we went but we are from the UK. Alot of hotels in that area looked really good too.

I stayed at Excellence Punta Cana in the DR almost 2 years ago for a babymoon. It was lovely and comfortable–I’d recommend it! The only negative for me was that the ocean was too rough to swim in. This is a problem throughout Punta Cana when we went (january), but I think at other times of the year it’s not so bad. We did walk a lot along the beach and if was beautiful!

Cost including airfare for 5 nights was around $3500, I think (we got it during a sale period).
