@eml87: You could say "your mom is watching you tonight and is so proud of you". Maybe that's cheesy. I think it would be heartfelt though. I think it's sweet that you want to acknowledge her mom.
I was going to offer advice but I see the wedding has already passed. Out of curiosity, what did you choose to go with and how did it go down?

Hi everyone, my best friend is getting married this weekend and I have most of the speech written, its mostly funny but I would like to end it with something sentimental and heartwarming since her mother passed away when we were very young. shes been in the back of her mind obviously through all of the wedding planning and I just want to say something thoughtful but tasteful about her mothers memory. so how do I transition from a funny speech to a heartwarming ending? I was thinking of transitioning by saying "but in all seriousness, dani is one of the strongest people I know..." and then end it off by saying i'm not sure what? that she is there in spirit? that kind of sounds lame and tacky... help!
