I don't know of a venue that is less than $1,000.00 but I am in Maryland and am happy to help with anything else you may need help with.
I don't know if you have a photographer yet but I found one that is really inexpensive and has a ton of good reviews!
In the meantime, I will look into some venues for you, too. What part of Maryland are you in?
@RahlyRah: I am in the Mongtomery County area, but we're willing to look at venues in other areas too since nothing around here has caught my eye yet. I would love to hear about the photographer you found!
Did you try Brookside Gardens? I don't know what their rates are but they fit the despcription of what you are looking for.
@NJmeetsBX: I am a huge fan of Brookside Gardens! That is our dream venue because we've been going there since we first started dating, but it's waaay out of our small budget :(
rats! OK how about Oxon Hill Manor? I think it might be $2800 rental on a Friday. Maybe less in the off season Dec-Mar.
You might want to look into a weekday wedding? See if there are any pretty barns/farm houses near you that rent out? They would probably be inexpensive.
This place seems inexpensive http://www.rockfieldmanor.com/weddings.html
And http://www.liriodendron.com/weddings.htm We almost looked here for my wedding but it was too small. I've heard good things though!
And I'm also from Maryland so let me know what else you need help on! :]
@NJmeetsBX:Yes, I've heard of oxon hill and I've been looking into some parks in PG county because some of them may be more affordable that most venues.
@kjgirl05: Thanks! Both of those look very interesting! We've thought about a weekday wedding and we might have to do that, but hopefully we can find something in our price range on a friday evening or sunday.
I didn't do a lot of research in MD because we wanted to stay in DC (ended up in MD anyway) but your best bet is going to be the public sites all of which are beautiful. I think $1000 rental though may be tough to meet unless you go with an early weekday rental.
I LOVE the idea of a barn wedding! I actually really wanted to get married at a barn in Montgomery County but it was way too far for my guests to travel (I live in Baltimore). I fell in love with this place and it is only like $600.00.

The photographer I booked is Barnyard Photography. They cost like $1200.00 for 7 hours! That is pretty darn cheap! They have other packages to choose from as well.
The Tidewater Inn in Easton was $1000 for rental of their courtyard (for the ceremony) and their Brick Room for the reception for our 40 person wedding. It was about $80 per person for the menu we were considering, not including alcohol. These were quotes given to us in Fall 2010 for a Fall 2011 wedding.
Hi Larissa!
Since you are looking to pay $1000 or less for the venue, are you looking to use an outside caterer? There are places that will not have a site fee but charge per person.
Many venues have a site fee and you must use their catering. This info will help me guide you.
We got married at the Tea Room in Gambrill State Park outside of Frederick. We rented it for two whole days (a Fri and a Sat to give us decorating/prep time the day before) for less than $400 total. Parking for our 60 guests was another $150 (we gave extra just in case). So it's still well within your budget. And the site is yours from 9 AM til 8 PM with the option of adding an extra hour or so at the end. Mind you there will be a lot of doing it yourself at this venue. But it comes with restrooms and a whole kitchen for caterers. Can't say enough nice things about the park rangers. And the scenery could not be beat! Our photos came back gorgeous!
If you want waterfront, I also know there are pavilions you can rent in other state park sites towards the Eastern Shore. Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions.
Check Out Quiet Waters Park in the Annapolis area.
Very nice for pictures but just a little over your budget.

I am getting Married at Jefferson Patterson Park in St. Leonard, MD. It cost me $800 for all day rental and it includes a ton of picknic tables and they will rent you different chairs for cheap too! They have a water front area you can rent for ceremonies for a little extra, and the big barn pavillion is included in the base rental as well! PM me for more info :)
@Prestigious Occasions: Hi! Yes I will probably use an outside caterer because we are planning on only doing a short cocktail reception. Thanks!
Thanks everyone! I am looking into the great options you all came up with! Keep them coming :)
I live in MD , having my vow renewal in may 2012 @ THE OTHER BARN, in Columbia md, it has 2 reception halls depending on what u want, and they have a courtyard (very beautiful) where u can have the ceremony. Am renting the bigger hall {maximum capacity is 220} for $1300 the 2nd hall takes abt 65 people so am sure u willpay less than a $1000. THE OTHER BARN , IN COLUMBIA.
@ifetoto:Thanks a lot! I'm def going to look into it! It looks like a beatiful venue.
@lbm.bride: If you choose the Other Barn, you have to have your RD at the Thai place in that village center. It looks kinda dumpy, but it has some seriously amazing food. Yum!
Billingsley House Museum is BEAUTIFUL! You def need to check it out
I am an intern for a floral designer in DC but I also do work on the side and looking to build my portfolio. If you still need wedding flowers in the DMV area you can contact me at RachelZiegler1@yahoo.com I can also send you pictures of work I have done in the past. Happy Planning!
If you were interested in the Eastern Shore you could try contacting the folks at Brittland Estates (http://www.brittlandestates.com/brittland.html).
Brittland itself is pricey ($8,000 for the weekend, but sleeps 24 people) but they do have other venues like Running Fox and River Lodge that should fit your number of guests for less money.
Brittland and the other locations are located in Chestertown which is a pretty little town. It's where I grew up and where I am getting married! You can also try the Brampton Inn, their packages are over $2,000 but include a lot of things like flowers. (http://www.bramptoninn.com/)
Good Luck!
@RachelZiegler1: Hi Rachel! Are you still interested in building your portfolio?
Hmmm... What about the place where Mrs Pencils had her wedding? Also maybe try Comus Inn near Sugarloaf Mtn? What about the Chesapeake Bay Foundation in Annapolis? Just some thoughts...
Hi I don't know if I am too latribute the Amherst House in Columbia is really pretty and it'saffordable. I booked it for my venue but then my guest list got outta control so I moved it to Historic Oakland. Amherst has a garden that you could have your ceramony in. http://www.kingscontrivancecommunityassociation.org/ $550 for 6hrs

Hi fellow weddingbees!
I am in the search for a beautiful and affordable venue for my wedding in Maryland. My fiance and I plan to get married around Sept 2012 with about 50 guests. We are looking for a venue under $1000 where we can hold the ceremony and the reception. So far we are thinking of an outdoor ceremony in some tipe of garden or a waterfront site, but we are open to just about anything since our budget is limited. Were any of you able to rent a site in Md for less than $1000?
Any other Md-related wedding advice is also welcome! Hope to hear from you all soon.
