New to this, but from what I’ve been reading, everyone has so much knowleged and seems to be very helpful.
Here’s My story; my husband and I have been looking at upgrading my wedding set from a .50 carat natural diamond, to possibly a 1.25 or 1.50ct equivalent moissanite. I just can’t justify spending 8k on a rock. We could do so much more with that money. I truely also want to go 100% conflict free route. I love diamonds, but it breaks my heart to know the story behind them. With this said, man made is the way to go, and an Amora moissanite I hear is the best route I should take. I really wish I knew of moissanites before purchasing my current set, :(.
Jumping to my dilemma, I’ll be purchasing a halo setting (from the moissaniteco.com, style number wed560) and I’m torn between a 7mm or a 7.5mm round. I am a size 5 and since this is an up grade, I’d like something bigger but not over powering. I was wondering with the addition of the halo measured at 1.3mm, how much bigger would the center stone appear? For example, would the halo make a 7mm look like a 7.5mm? Or is there not a big difference if I get a 7.5mm or a 7mm?
I’m so happy I’ve found this site to have lead me to moissanites. A stone that is conflict free, durable, and I hear spits fire like there’s no tomorrow :D!

I would probably go with the 7.5 if I was getting it for myself. I don’t think you’ll see a huge different between 7 and 7.5.
Have you looked for other bees with halo setting and center stones around the 1.25 or 1.5 ct mark in any stone? It might give you a better idea of how it ould look.

i tried on a 7.5mm round with a halo and it was quite larege on my size 6 finger but i don’t think it was gaudy or too big. I think for your upgrade you should go big or go home and do the 7.5mm with halo. Is the amora moissanite a round stone? Rounds always look bigger than what they are!

Found this on annother thread. She has a size 5 finger and that diamond is 1.5 carats

Here is one more, the halo is a bit different but still gives you an idea.
Her ring size is 4.5 and the center stone is 1.54 carats

get the 7.5. there isn’t much of a difference in price. it may look large at first but you will get used to it.

I personally would go for 7.5 because its not much more in price.

I am size 5 too and mine is the 7mm (1.25). I would probably go for the 7.5mm if I were you. I love my ring, but a little larger stone wouldn’t hurt.

My ring is from moissyco and i went with a 7.5mm…And I have a size 5 finger. But my setting does not have a halo, and halos really do add a lot of finger coverage… So maybe you should do the 7mm. 🙂

I love the setting. I can’t help completely bc I have a white sapphire, but it is a halo, and in a size 5. It is 2 ct and 2.5, bloom cut. Just so you can get an idea here’s my ring
@pangyang0309: I really wanted a moissanite, but the white sapphire was easier to garson a bloom cut for the setting:) hope this helps some. I have more pics if u want to see
