- Wedding: March 2012
I recently purchased what I believed to by my absolute dream dress – “Orchid” by Reem Acra.
Here are some pictures of it, first of Taylor Swift wearing it in her music video “Mine”:
And here’s me trying on the sample at Saks:
The dress just came in, and after having seen it I’m having doubts as to whether I really made the right decision. It may just be that my dress is still too big for me – it was ordered in a size 8, but I’m now a bridal size 4-6. When I try the dress on now, it’s difficult to imagine how it will actually look on my body on the day-of. I’m also worried that the fit of the dress will be compromised if it has to be taken in a lot.
My dress is also a lot poofier than the sample. I know I should have expected this, (especially after having seen it happen on Say Yes to the Dress), but I just thought the dress would be more flow-y and less of a ballgown.
Also, I don’t know if I really like the sparkly brooch… It looks great on T.Swift, but on my dress I think it just looks out of place. After a mean remark from one of my friends (which I know I shouldn’t have taken to heart, but sometimes things like that just stick…) I think it may just be too big and gaudy.
But maybe the dress needs that little bit of sparkly oomph…
Some background info: wedding is formal and in the evening, with a Catholic ceremony and a ballroom reception.
Before I begin panicking, I wanted to consult the Hive for some level-headed advice.:) I still love my dress, I think I just need some reassurance from other brides-to-be who have been there. So, bees, what do you think?
(And if you’re not too exhausted from this post already – I’d appreciate any hair and veil advice you have! I really wanted to do either a simple cathedral length veil or a drop veil, and my hair in a Veronica Lake-esque Old Hollywood style… comments/suggestions?)
