How long will yoru ceremony be? I like the cushion idea, but it seems like a ton of work and expense. If your mom is excited, thought, that might work. What about making covers that could be longstrips of fabric that you could lie along the stone? That way people aren’t sitting directly on the stone, but it’s a lot easier!

@pinkkillersheep:  Then I think you can get away without the chairs or cushions. Have chairs for people with back issues but most guests should be okay for under an hour wihtout a seat back.

The beauty of your venue is partly the stone. I would have ushers let people know the general area to sit to maximize the view of the ceremony.

For a short ceremony, I think people would be ok without a cushion.

If you do want something we used to make these things in Girl Guides called sit upons, where you just place a stack of used newspapers inside a pillowcase, then fold the ends inside. No sewing, and you could likely find the pillowcases at the Dollar Store or online.

I think it would be ok on the stone as long as ithe ceremony was later in the afternoon after all the morning moisture has evaporate from the nighttime dew (gosh, i’m poetic).

@pinkkillersheep:  I vote seat cushions. I’ve sat in that ampitheater before and it was rather uncomfy in casual jeans. If I was dressed for a wedding I would not only be physically uncomfortable but also concerned I would get my pretty dress dirty.

Side note – what a beautiful place to get married! Have you seen the (super long) youtube video proposal that took place there with a projector playing a song that incorporated all of the bride’s family and friends? ADORABLE.

Definitely do the seat cushions!! I think it is a lovely idea! Sure a lot of work, but I am sure your guests would appreciate this over sitting on the stone!

Stone hurts, bad. and even with jeans. in a thin fabric dress my beautiful bottom would die of pain. Cushions all the way.

I wouln’t monogram them, I’d save that work and donate them after the wedding.

@pinkkillersheep:  I would at least do cushions. You have to remember there are a lot of even 50 year olds who have bad knees/backs and probably wouldnt love sitting without a backrest etc. I think it’d feel more “Ceremony-like” with chairs. Without seems very casual (which you might be going for).
