I am giving "Days to Remember - A Journal of Lifetime Events." I got it at Borders Books and it was really reasonably priced and very nice. It's a leatherbound book with a page for every day of the year. You're supposed to record special moments very briefly, keeping it for a lifetime. I think it's so special - and so fun as well for anniversaries. For example, they can record their first kiss with their husband, and then celebrate it each year. Cute stuff like that. Good luck!
I'm in the same boat with my shower hostess gift - a good friend of my FMIL is hosting and I've never met her. I think I'm going to send her flowers after the fact with a nice note - I'm going to try to do some recon work to find out her favorite color or kind of flower.
You could bake them something and include the recipe. That would be fun... Maybe some bellybuttons:
Preheat oven to 300*F
Put a layer of mini-pretzles on a cookie sheet and put an unwrapped Hershey Kiss on top of each one.
Bake in the oven for 3 minutes.
Take out and press an M&M into the kiss...squishing it a bit into the pretzle.
Freeze for 10 mintues....take off the tray and wrap however you'd like. They are best stored in the fridge.
If you're a salty & sweet fan they are DELICOUS!!! YUM!!!!! :)
I like the flowers idea too.
By the way - this is totally random - but 1800 flowers has really cute bouquets that look like cupcakes. The only bummer is that I think they're just for birthdays, but I think they should be for any occassion. They're really cute.
I might be a little too late responding, but I'll go for it anyway:
I had a veru hard time with this myself, especially since I had 11 hostesses for my Bridal Shower last Sunday. That's right, ELEVEN! Being a bride on a budget, I went to the local Dollar Tree and found 11 umbrellas for...you guessed it, $1.00 each! (A shameless play on the "shower" theme, but for eleven people it was difficult to get too personal!) They are smaller/purse sized umbrellas, but I've yet to meet someone who couldn't use an extra to stash in the car!
They went over well, really well actually. They were all touched that I had even thought to get them anything at all, yet commented on how useful it actually was!
Hope this helps you budget brides out there!
****Also found adorable gift bags in a 12 pack at my local Hobby Lobby for $3.99 in my wedding colors, and used the $1/pack tissue from the Dollar Tree!

I know what I dont want but I dont know what I do want to get as gifts for my shower hostesses, I need ideas!
There are 3 ladies hosting my shower, that are friends of my FMIL. I dont want to do soaps, candles, bath products, etc. I dont know them really well so Im kinda lost as to what to get them as a thank you gift. I know one of them likes wine, but I dont want to get just a bottle of wine.
My shower is this coming Sunday, so it would really have to be something I can buy in person, unfortunately not through Etsy or online stores. Any ideas are appreciated!
