There are enhanced moissanite OECs. Schubach’s usually has a good selection of them. An OEC may look better unenhanced depending on the look you are going for. Additionally, a lot of the new rough unenhanced is cutting out whiter than the enhanced, so I would recommend you talk to someone like Beth at Schubach’s who sees a lot of moissanite.

I am a 5.25 and I felt that a 1.5 was large and a 2.0 was too large. My center is 1.25 and I am thinking about going back down to a 6.5mm. My ring is OECs, though not moissanites.

Amora is an enhancement process just like forever brilliant. It is meant to change the color of the stone to be whiter and more diamondlike. Some thing enhanced stones lose some of their sparkle so that is something to keep in mind.

@Ellierae886:  I’m not sure what you mean when you say “Amora OEC.” Do you mean an Amora Gem OEC (not currently available anywhere in the world yet) or an Amora enhanced OEC? If the latter, I have one 🙂

Finger size is 6.25 & center stone is a 3ct (9mm). (it’s a little dirty in the first pic)

As far as talking my husband into getting me the moissanite; it wasn’t that hard for me. I made it clear up front that I wanted a larger center stone & that I wasn’t attached to the idea of diamond, I just wanted a clear stone that would last forever. Moissanite definitely fit the bill. When I told him that ultimately it meant a LOT more to me to have my dream ring w/ my dream size center stone than it did to have a diamond, he was sold. Plus, when I showed him the prices on 3ct OEC diamonds he nearly choked. lol

I don’t have a moissanite, and I don’t know your budget, but I am a huge OEC fan in diamonds (the moissys in OEC are gorgeous too, KatNewbys is INSANNNNNE!!!!!)

That being said, if you are interested in an OEC diamond http://www.oldworlddiamonds.com has some that are really very good prices.

@winterwhite:  You said: Some thing enhanced stones lose some of their sparkle so that is something to keep in mind.

@Ellierae886:

That is actually not true. I agree that some people have said that, but actually the refractive index (shiny-ness) of moissanite is actually improved in the Amora enhancement process because the molecular bonds are strengthened. Frankly, it would be so miniscule that somebody would ever notice, but when people say that Amora’s are less sparkly, they are speaking against what science has already said.

@MrsSkeletonKey:  Regardless of what science said, a lot of people feel that enhanced stones lose some of their rainbow sparkle and throw off less intense light.

I try to take a more balanced view of moissanite– so I am not necessarily going to immediately buy into what BetterThanDiamond is saying about all this, especially since I think they are dumping their customers for a lot of other products in favor of the not-that-impressive Amora Gem.

@MrsSkeletonKey:  I figured that was you (but I know there is another bee who has a huge OEC moissy too somewhere on here). Your ring is a great advertisement for OEC moissy!

@Ellierae886:  whoops! forgot my comment! my ring is a 1 carat Forever Brilliant OEC in a 1/2 carat diamond setting. I LOVE it! I even got to ask for a smaller culet in the stone. what setting are you thinking of? that might help you decide on which cut.:)

@MrsSkeletonKey:  Besides my personal opinion, we have had a number of customers report that the enhanced Moissanite (FB and Amora) appear more “crisp” than the regular Moissanites, along with whiter.  It would make sense since it is an atomically more pure stone.  The light play is less impeded by imperfections in the stone and therefore would appear more brilliant/fiery.

@luckylady3090:  The larger culet OEC’s are all but sold out at this point.  When we received the first batch of OEC’s (nearly 2 years ago) we worked with C&C to reduce the size of the culet.  The larger culet OEC’s were still circulated for a while, but I honestly haven’t seen any in some time.
