That’s exciting!  Our process was that they sized and set the stone at the same time. We paid in cash for ours, so we got it 2 days later. I know some jewelers do payment plans where you get to take it home before it is paid off and others require full payment.  So it could be very,  very soon that you get engaged!  Congrats!

My rings receipt was broken down as well.. he picked the setting and had them replace the center stone with another diamond.. he said it only took a week between picking it out and it being finished!! Yay for you!! So exciting!! 🙂

My husband ordered the band, which was one price. Then, he sat with the jeweler to look at loose stones and pick out his favorite. The diamond was its own price. When my band came in the jeweler put the stone my husband picked out in it and then the ring was appraised.

Stop thinking about it.

He has a plan. Don’t pick it apart, just let it be and let him be romantic in his own time.

Don’t call the jeweler, don’t ask him about the money, just be secure in the fact that it will be happening in the near future.

@jocy2885:  when I realized that my now-fiance was going to visit my friend aka the diamond guy, my mind went to all ends of trying to figure out the timeline and the style, etc.

So I called my friend who had gotten married a few years before and asked her to give me the advice that I had given her when she and her now-hubby started ring shopping. I needed someone else to tell me to just let go, be happy, and let him be romantic without second guessing every single place we went and every second we spent together.

However, I did make sure I had my gel manicure in tip-top shape for the next weeks.

@jocy2885:  I don’t know exactly. After he proposed he told me the process to get the ring, but I dont recall the time frame for each step. He first hand to find an authorized Scott Kay retailer. Then, he went back on two seperate occasions looking at loose diamonds. He wanted bigger and nicer quality than what he was first shown for the center diamond. The appraisal may have taken a week or two. If I recall he seemed frustrated that was longer than expected.
