I am very bad at putting together themes and such but I think that I have been drawn to an old holywood glam theme based on photos I have seen online and their descriptions (if this is incorrect based on the photos below please let me know!). I have not made any concrete decisions for decor for my wedding and I am just now getting around to picking bridesmaids dresses. The only thing I HAVE done is put a downpayment on my dress
Do you think that if I wanted to go with an old hollywood glam theme that this dress would work (this is the dress that I ordered)?
And I noticed that I am liking dresses similar to these for bridesmaids.
And I liked this for centerpieces
FYI I have been eyeballing this dress, do you think it would work better with the theme?

I really think all of that will work beautifully!

I find those are all beautiful inspirations. And your dress is beautiful!

Thanks! But are you sure a ballgown can fit in with this theme?

Well, if it was me, I think I would pick the dress that I feel most beautiful in no matter what the theme was. But to answer the question, yes, I find the ballgown would fit a Hollywood glam theme just fine . It’ll all be gorgeous!

Honestly I dont think the first dress says “old Hollywood” at all. It’s too frilly and frou frou. Old Hollywood is sleek and sophisticated, more like the second dress you posted. I think you could still do a ballgown but to make it truly Old Hollywood, a satin ballgown would be better suited.
BUT that being said, who cares!!?? This is your wedding, not a theme party. You should wear the dress you love, pick the decor and colors and other details you love… not try to stick with a theme.

either dress is great with the theme. You are teh star of the day, and the theme will fall around you no matter your dress. I sense you want a less fluffy opinion, though, so here it is: old Hollywood glam would “dictate” a more slinky style. I usually see something with a drop waist or drapey neckline or dropped back with BLING. I think the first dress is more fitting to the theme then the second one, though, but you could find something even more befitting of your theme. try googling “hollywood glam wedding” in an image search. its a popular theme, so you should get quite a bit 🙂

@KristenGotMarried: “This is your wedding, not a theme party”- this is so true. I guess the better question then would have been “does it fit together”. I don’t want to worry too much about a theme (actually I would rather not to at all), but I want everything to be cohesive and not look like I just threw stuff that I liked together, but doesn’t actually go well together. And everyone keeps asking for a description of my vision and need a way to describe them.
@Missido: You are so sweet! Thanks for the opinion. I remember loving my dress but have kind of forgotten the feeling. I might have to try it on again! 🙂
