After much research and consideration, we are leaning towards traveling to costa rica and staying in the oxygen jungle villas. For those of you that have been there… how do you go about putting everything together? I have only ever traveled to all inclusive places so I’m a little nervous about trying to piece it all together myself! Fiance needs a passport… then I suppose flights and rooms. Transportation. All the excursions (we want to do the ziplining, monkey tours, snorkeling… etc). What did you use to find all of this stuff?

I always wanted to stay there! I have no advice about the hotel but have a great time!

I love Costa Rica! I’m afraid I won’t be very helpful, I went to a different area and my fiancé’s family owns a condo there so I was able to just go with the flow, but I bet if you called the hotel they’d have some suggestions for excursions. 🙂 It’s a beautiful country!

I saw Oxygen when they first opened and wanted to go there, but we choose elsewhere in Costa RIca for our honeymoon due to transportation. I believe you’d fly into San Jose and have the option fo driving or taking a small plane further south. (When I say small, think tiny, 12 seater.)
So if driving south, I’d get private transfers instead of renting a car and driving yourself. While it wasn’t the same region, the roads we travelled aren’t a good as the US. Paved – yes. Narrow, winding, poor signage – yes. (Not to meant all the people walking or biking along the road.) We found our three private transfers (two different hotels/areas) were the same amount as renting a car for a week would be.
You can probably ask the hotel about private transfers and excursions. They might be able to book that all for you or point you to a company that can. There shouldn’t be too many flight options too choose from.
Costa Rica is beautiful and I’m sure you’ll have a great time.

@ashwirtz: Don’t know if you booked plane tickets yet but I suggest you sign up for kayak.com price alerts. I was able to jump on tickets to SJO for $150 less per person than in weeks leading up to booking and even now.
We booked everything but plane tickets through Anywhere Costa Rica. Haven’t been yet but the reviews are great. I booked transportation, hotels, and excursions through them.
