Hello All, Figured I could pick your brain for a bit. We are having a large wedding(300) and need ideas for table name cards/seating. We are trying to stay away from the traditional name cards with your table # printed on it. I saw ideas with a Board and people look for there name and table. With 300 guest (30 tables), this can look like the tv monitors at the airport, trying to see if your flight (along with 500 other flights) is on time and what gate your at. Anyone have any good ideas? Oh, and having a free for all seating won’t work. There are those few people who will pull up a chair or 3 and be determined to have 13 people sit at a 8-10 person table.

Any chance you and your SO met at college? I’d love to use the names of academic buildings and dorms that have significance for us as table names. Or maybe important places to you as a couple? Name of a restaurant, a park, a city, etc?

If you want to do a seating chart, I would make more than one copy for a large wedding
drawn diagram- guests find their name on the alphabetical list on the right, then find their table on the diagram
for a formal wedding- if you needed to make changes to one or two tables you could just redo those cards
The advantage to using escort cards rather than a seating chart is that you can revise seating right up until the last minute if need be.
With that many guests you need to spread the escort cards between several “stations” or tables so your guests aren’t all in one huge crush trying to find their card. Group by last name- ABC, DEF etc
The “cards” don’t need to be standard cards. Brides have used all sorts of things-
leaves on a tree
favors that do double duty like these flowers
for a nautical wedding

@julies1949: Our Ceremony is whimsical/romantic, then our reception area still has that romantic feel with Hollywood glam.. ( the 2 areas are 20 ft from each other) I LOVE the mirror..but what cards are attached to it? It has several 1’s and 2’s

I wonder what it would look like, if I did the mirror idea but with big picture frames/no glass, having big ribbons attaching the cards??

@mymychele: I am having an old hollywood glamour wedding and our idea for the tables is we are going to use pictures of old hollywood actors and singers ie:judy garland,elvis,gene kelly ppl like that. we will have the picture on the table and a board with the pictures on it and ppls name underneath. i hope that that helps you out 🙂
