Hey! We are date twins!! so fun!
anyways, We have been doing lots of research for honeymoons from that date as well, and have found that the ABC (Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao) caribbean islands are usually a safer bet then say Mexico or Dominican Republic, as they are further south and dont usually get hit by hurricanes. We have been to Aruba and Bonaire, and they are both GORGEOUS! Lots of relaxing, golfing and snorkling at both islands!
As for Scotland, October would be during rainy season, so Im not sure if your fiance could get much golfing in... unless he is okay golfing in the rain. Other ideas we cam up with were Greece, Italy, Tahiti, Hawaii or the ABC islands, as they are all nice weather during October, and are unlikely to have hurricanes :) or try a cruise... they can go around the hurricanes and you still get a great vacation!!!
good luck!
Scotland and England generally is pretty wet from mid Sept - mid Nov. That being said the weather is something you totally can't predict. Especially a year out! ;)
I don't know what your budget is like but have you considered South Africa or New Zealand? October would be just about the right time for the southern hemisphere's early summer so you'll get some lovely weather and the right amount of relaxing and golf.
Awww. Date Twins! We are planning on going to Jamacia for our honeymoon. The Sandles resort has a golf course thats free with booking. I think all is what you have to pay is the cart fee.. or whatever its called. Not to meantion they have like amazing deals going on right now and you can get like 65 percent off! Also its an all inclusive. Good luck deciding!
Wow! If your budget allows Scotland you should definitely go! I would love to go there!
I had to chime - I'm also getting married 10/02/10!! We're taking an Eastern Caribbean Cruise. I can not wait. I'm calling tomorrow to book with Royal Caribbean - Happy Honeymooning!
Hey, me too I am getting married in October 2010 I am planning to go to France and Italy...my dreams are finally coming true. I am Vietnamese and would love to suggest going to Vietnam. I have been there once since I left my country when I was 1 years old. It has so many natural beautiful sites, and it is soooo cheap. A hotel cost about 35-50 a night for a really fancy place (marble floors, great service, and just really luxury ). You can have a great time, relax, golf, shop, and just have a wondrful time for such a cheap price. Let me know if you need more info. I am not going there because if i did it would not be a honeymoon but more like pressure and stress of visiting everyone.

Hi everyone. I am new to the board and this looks like a great place to get some wedding and honeymoon ideas.
I'd like to ask for any suggestions you all have on honeymoon locales for next October. We're getting married on the 2nd on the eastern shore of Maryland and want to take a week to 10 day honeymoon after that. Here are our criteria -- he needs to be able to golf, preferably a number of times. I need to be able to relax -- doesn't have to be beach/pool, but I don't want a trip that has me up and moving early each morning. I'm afraid I'll be totally worn out from the wedding and I just want to relax. I'm game for activities though -- hiking, snorkeling, fishing, sightseeing. It just can't be a go-go-go trip like some vacations are.
We've been thinking of Scotland, as there's tons of golf, but I'm not sure what the weather is like in October. We're also thinking of Costa Rica or the Dominican but hurricane season makes that a tad dicey.
So, help!
