We are getting married in August 2011 and both LOVE photos and photography! We want to kind of use this as our theme. We are looking for some creative ways to use pictures at our wedding and need some ideas! We are going to have a photo booth which we are building ourselves and have a few other things we are considering. Anyone with some suggestions/ideas??? We are open to anything! Our colors are black and white with cobalt/royal blue accents.

We are doing a take on these (but with simple glass frames) as centerpieces

A groom’s cake with a photography theme…
A wedding cake tastefully covered in photographs…
Place disposable cameras on all of the tables for tons of canded photos
Use pictures of you together for your invitations, save the dates, and all stationary
Have a photobook guest book. You can either have a photobook preprinted from sites like mypublisher.com or blurb.com or you can have a polaroid camera to take instant pictures of your guests so that they can sign them and place them in a blank book.
Use cheap film as streamers??? I don’t know if that is any good or not…
If I think of more I will let you know.

If there is a blank wall you could use a projector to flash photos on the wall all night (both of you two together, as kids and even photographs you both love or places you have been)

I went to a wedding once where during the reception the photographer had a slideshow of his/her (can’t remember) pictures of the wedding projected on the wall. It was cool because the ceremony photos were up first and as the night went on, shots of the cake cutting and dancing made it on the screen. Very cool for your guests who will be pointing themselves out and giggling about other guests’ funny dance moves.

@MissOwl: I saw this once at a wedding too and it was a big hit

For your escort cards you can get a picture of the person make it look like a poloroid and put what table they are at under their picture.
One of the girls here did/is doing that I can’t remember who.

@aubrav: That is an awesome cake!
Maybe you could find photos of each guest and make it into their escort/place card somehow? I’ve never seen it before, so I can’t give you a picture, but you could just size down a family or individual photo to business card size and people can recognize themselves rather than their names.
You could also use frames as decor around. Hang empty ones on walls, propped on tables. I’d frame any signage you have then.

@Mrs.LetsGoPens: Ha! Nice idea! I always find it funny when ideas come out like that within seconds of each other. Great minds think alike!

You could also use studio lights as a decor element, like the big tripod ones with the umbrella in fromt of them, which will also make for a nice, diffuse lighting scheme.
Also, alot of times flea markets/antique stores have old pictures of varying degrees of awesome ness, which could be used as table numbers.
Your guest book could be a photo album where you altearnate writing pages and family pictures.
You can find antique (usually not working) cameras at flea/antique markets and scatter those on the table along with flowers or whatever centerpiece you are working with.

You can call a local film school and maybe pay a few students to stand outside of your reception and take pictures paparatzzi style.
@soonerpsych: Hahaha nice! I guess your soonerPSYCHIC.
@Miss Peach Tree: I think all of these ideas are awesome.

FI and I were considering doing the same type a theme and calling it “Picture Perfect”. Some of my ideas were putting the escort cards in small frames and having them double as favors. We were going to take pictures ourselves of numbers (we live in the NYC area so we were going to walk around the city and for example table #5 we would have a picture of a 5th Ave sign) and put them in all different frames on the tables. We were thinking of either doing a photobooth or just doing a polariod picture book and also having a display of pictures on a board somewhere like PP put above. I got the idea when I saw this http://www.amazon.com/WeddingStar-Figurine-Picture-Perfect/dp/B00353NG9Q while browsing one day. I am going to keep coming back to this for more ideas though. Some of you bees are so creative!!

Thanks for all the great ideas. It gives us a lot to think about. Some of them we were kind of thinking of and your comments gives us confirmation they were good ones. We are thinking about using pics on our table numbers. Like for table 5 will pics of us at 5 years old. We also like the idea of using the clothes pins to hold pics. Any other ideas are welcomed!!

@aubrav: That cake is made by a bakery near me. We thought about using them but decided to go with someone else. We may still put a pic of sometime on the cake.
On the head table I want to put a frame of each bridal party member with a pic and little bio of them. sitting facing the guests. When I go to weddings I like to know how the bride and groom know their bridal party members (we will put it on the program) but I like the idea of having it in the frame so when people come up to the head table they can check it out. My FI isn’t as sold on it as I am. We plan to do little photo shoots with them…me with my girls and him with his guys. We both are amateur photographers, well he’s pretty good, but I’m just starting. We can use the pics from our photos shoot as the pic for the frame. Just tossing around some other ideas.
