Hi ladies. I have a question that I am hoping someone will have an answer to (I’m looking at you, married Bees! :D)
Fi and I live in Kansas, but are getting married in Tulsa on Labor day. We are planning on driving into Tulsa early morning the Friday before the wedding, and going to the court clerk’s office to obtain our marriage license. The website suggests doing this a few days before your wedding just in case there are any problems with the paperwork. Well, Friday is obviously the last business day befoer our wedding.
Do you ladies have any info on the process to get your license? I figured we’d just flash our ID’s or birth certificates since Oklahoma has no waiting period (unless you are divorced) and no blood test requirements. I know Fi’s mom went to the courthouse in another Oklahoma city int he morning, and was married by the JOP in the afternoon.
So please, still my fears? Do you think my plan will work? Is there a reason why I should try to get to Tulsa even earlier? (I really can’t afford to. T_T)

@Asia: I just looked up the requirements online and it seems pretty straight forward. I’d call the town clerk and just verify what you need to bring with you. Our state’s website said you only need a photo ID, but in actuality you needed both an ID and a birth certificate.
We got our marriage license the day before and I was a little nervous about it but ultimately it was fine – took a few minutes and we were good to go. My whole thing was that if we couldn’t get the marriage license for some reason, we’d just get married legally when we got back from our honeymoon – no big deal.

@MrsWBS: Thanks for this. 🙂 I contacted our marriage officiant too, who said much of the same. She assured me that it usually only takes about 10 minutes. The website made me a little worried. 🙂
I plan on using my birth certificate as my primary document. I’m hopeful they won’t need my license, as it has a typo on it. DX Stupid Kansas DMV…

I don’t even want to think about the legal stuff right now, but yours is coming up so quickly! 🙂
