So I was set on an antique-gold birdcage veil, so I ordered one from birdcageveils.com.
I went today to check if it matched with my gown and for the heck of it, I tried on a regular veil as well. Turns out now I like both and can't decide. Should I wear the regular veil for the ceremony and then the birdcage for the reception? If so, what part of the reception would I wear the veil over my face? And then what would I do with it? Or should I just stick or one or another? Need your opinions!! Pics of both options are in the attachments.
Can the birdcage be fashioned so that it doesn't cover too much of your face? Birdcages are so cute as reception wear!
I'd say go with the long for the ceremony, enter the reception (and maybe 1st dance?) with the birdcage covering your face, then flip it to the back for the rest of the reception. Both are beautiful!
I think you should wear the birdcage the whole time. I don't care too much for the other veil, but that's just me. Plus, it's a hassle to be switching veils on your wedding day. I barely had time to reapply lipgloss and to take my birdcage veil off for dancing. I couldn't imagine having to position a new one entirely in just a few moments of spare time.
I really luuurve the bird cage because the dress already has that vintage flair I think it just makes it a beautiful piece. :o) But you look gorgeous either way!!
First, I have to say GORGEOUS dress. You look stunning. Second, I agree with amariem25--I actually prefer the look of the birdcage rather than the other veil with your dress, so I would wear the birdcage the whole time. Either way, though, you'll look gorgeous!
I looove the long veil with that dress. It is so beautiful. I agree w/ suggestions about birdcage @ the reception.
I'm leaning towards wearing just the birdcage. I think it completes my overall look better. But I still want to hear your opinions because I am a libra, indecisive, and I need to hear both sides of every decision!!!!!
That dress is stunning! I think either veil would be okay, but I like the birdcage, maybe fastened in a different way (like Pengy said, maybe covering less of your face?)
Do you mean to adjust it to cover less of my face for the ceremony?
I was thinking to pull the birdcage veil backwards and wear it with a rose hair-fascinator for the reception.
Your dress is gorgeous. I like both veils but I think the birdcage is stunning with your dress.
Your dress is amazing! I know I'm being super conventional, but I love the look of the long veil with your dress, especially if you'll be wearing your hair down as it is in the pictures.
I think either veil could work... but I am definitely feeling the birdcage with this dress
i love the birdcage veil with your dress. I think the long one takes away from the beautiful details that your dress has.
I love the birdcage! You could either flip it back for the reception or attach it lower in the back so it doesn't cover your whole face. If it's too long for that you can gather some of the netting under your fascinator so it's shorter. Love it!
I think I prefer the regular veil! But they both look gorgeous!
Would you wear the birdcage to the reception?
I love the birdcage veil too! The long veil looks good with the dress, if you want to be more traditional. I'm not very big on traditional veils though.
i love the best of both worlds, veil for ceremony and birdcage for the reception. i am thinking of doing a veil for my ceremony and then a fascinator for the reception. i don't want to go around trying to hug everyone with them mistakely pulling on my veil.
beautiful dress and pics btw, i thought the first pic was out of a mag!
Man, you look like a bombshell! Gorgeous! If I had to choose only one by vote would go for the birdcage. I think that it makes the look a bit sexier than the traditional.
The birdcage veil goes really well with your dress (which is GORGEOUS btw). I'd skip the traditional veil.
Thank you girls, seriously- those were some of the sweetest compliments. I loved hearing everyones input. I'm still deciding if I should wear the regular veil during the ceremony- but the costs will add up for something I'll be wearing for 30 min!! The one I found that matches my dress perfectly is another $260, then another $60 for the added blusher I want- and then I'l have to buy some sort of hairpiece.
How often in my life will I get to rock that birdcage veil?? Never!! I think I just may do birdcage all the way and not be traditional at all. We are getting married on Halloween! It's going to be an elegantly gothic, vintage, dark and artsy type of wedding ;)
I'm very traditional and really expected to like the regular veil better--but I don't! I LOVE the birdcage on you and it just WORKS with your dress. Go for it! Sassy!
Birdcage! The other is pretty, but the birdcage makes the whole outfit POP!
Honestly, you look great in both. Really, dress is great, you are too cute, everything is awesome. Just choose based on the feel you want (more traditional, more cutting edge). You are a stunner either way.
I love your dress and think both are great. I think you should spend most of your day in the birdcage though... Can you find a birdcage that only goes down between your nose and mouth? I think that would be really perfect, especially with your hair and face shape :)
When deciding consider that *everybody* is wearing a birdcage veil nowadays, and it's not that original to wear one anymore. Plus birdcage veils can be worn a number of other times, regular long veils are worn only for your own wedding.
Plus, your dress is long so a birdcage veil isn't a good fit.
I think the birdcage veil is actually perfect with that dress, and I'm not usually a fan of some that I've seen. I like the way that one's constructed. Its soft and flattering in a way the traditional veil is not. I wouldn't add a thing to it either. I love how it looks!
Long for ceremony, birdcage for reception! Both are beautiful and you look stunning in your dress!!
I personally think the birdcage veil looks AWESOME with your dress & your hair. Very elegant & much more of a "statement" than the other veil. I have always had a thing for birdcage veils, although I tried on a regular veil with my dress & it was pretty nice too, but the look btwn the two was very different. But I think for you, the birdcage DEFINITELY wins out.
