I am having a friend of mine do my make-up for the wedding day, but I need to buy some new products to use. I want to get some good eye shadows but really am not familiar with any (besides cheap drugstore brands!). I’m going for a more natural look, but with a little more ‘pop’ so it shows well in photos.
What do you ladies suggest?
ps – my birthday is coming up so I was going to ask for giftcards to help pay for some new make up – Sephora or Macy’s (MAC)?

I only recently discovered her, (and this is probably more work than you’re looking for!) but emilynoel83 has tons of videos on youtube, ranging from how-to-apply, to which kinds of makeup it’s worth it to buy cheap. For example, I think for eyeshadow, she actually recommends the e.l.f. brand (available at kmart and target?) that’s like $1! and, she recommends a for an eyeshadow base thing, instead of expensive mac or sephora, a brand called palladio (I think) from Sally Beauty Supply.

You might also want to give Tarina Tarantino a try! Her products aren’t cheap, but they’re also not super expensive. I use it with Too Faced’s Eyeshadow Insurance, and it stays on forever. Use them with a brush and pat it on your lid instead of swiping it for a more natural look and for it to stay on better. I recently did a friend’s trial with her new bronze Sparklicity kit, and it turned out pretty great :). It has a ton of pretty browns and golds in it.
