Hi Ladies! I need your opinion on my two makeup trials. I’m getting married in a few months and am having a hard time deciding what makeup trial I like more. Here’s the dilemma:
1) trial #1 was airbrushed and it makes my skin look very even and unshiny but in person, my makeup looks SUPER cakey and I feel like I’m a walking clown-face. I described my wedding as outdoor garden/romantic with peaches/coral/pinks and the makeup artist told me I shouldn’t be so matchy-matchy and need to go darker for pictures so I don’t look washed out. I agree with the second part of her statement, but it makes me feel so self-conscious! But at the same time, we’re paying a lot for our photographer so I want the pictures to look not like I just wore the same every day makeup. The lady put on purples and golds on my lids and reddish on my lips.
2) trial #2 the lady paid attention to what I wanted and just did my makeup in colors I liked and the makeup looked more natural… more me. It wasn’t airbrushed and I don’t know if all makeup does this but after several hours of walking around in the humidity, the picture shows how SHINY my face looks. Also I do feel a little washed out like I have no makeup on since I picked neutral colors.
What do you ladies think? I am torn because I really like 2 better but I want my pictures to look fabulous for our wedding. I was thinking I could just bring blotting tissues and ask the woman to darken my makeup a little more but similar colors?
Ahhh… not sure what to do… would love input from you lovely ladies!
trial #1 (me with our puppy, who looks really bad in super flash lighting :/):
makeup trial #2 (the first one is outdoors no flash with one of my friends, the second one is indoors several hours later with a flash really close which makes it look shiny and sort of washed out):

I like the second one much better. I think the shineyness actually looks dewey & I would also worry about the airbrushed makeup not looking good in-person. 🙂

I can’t tell a huge difference! I think your skin looks flawless , regardless 🙂
I think October in the North East is pretty cool, so perhaps the airbrush won’t be to heavy feeling and the same for non-airbrush, not so sweaty and shiny.
I’d so go with whatever makes you feel confident!!!

I like makeup trial 2. You are a beautiful woman and don’t need any makeup but of course you want to look a little extra special for your wedding day. I’d say do what you mentioned, just darken it up a bit so it has room to fade and use blotting sheets for oil. Clean and Clear makes good ones, I use them all the time in this TX heat.

I also prefer the second look 🙂

I agree with Bellagio! You look young and fresh in the second one. You’re so pretty!

The lipstick is much better in #1. Otherwise, both look fine, so go with #2 since you’ll feel more comfortable.

Airbrush makeup shouldn’t be cakey or heavy. If it is, she’s doing it wrong. It’s all in the application. Airbrush should give you a much lighter and more natural look than regular makeup. In the photos I like #1 better. But if you don’t like it in person, is it too late to find someone else?

Thank you everyone for your kind word and unobjective opinions! I like how the airbrushing looks in #1 but everything else with #2. I think I’m leaning towards #2 but will ask for it a bit darker. Even though I want to look “my best” on the big day, I don’t want to feel self conscious about super heavy makeup either. 🙂 thanks again!!

I prefer the second look! If you are worried about shine you can brush on some shine minimizing powder during the reception and be back to new!

Honestly you look gorgeous in both and I don’t think you can go wrong, at least photo-wise. However, if you felt that #1 looked cakey, then by all means go with #2. Your skin is beautiful, and it’s not just about the photos which might look a tiny bit better with airbrushing – you want to look good for the people there too. You might not feel as comfortable with #1.

You are very pretty! I would say, #2, you have a nice dewy glow in the last pic, so if you look at the end of your reception, it will still look great. I would not go for the airbrush if it feels or looks cakey to you.
