I was hoping I could get opinions about pairing something with my dress to cover it up for a more.. conservative look.
The dress I’m getting is Enzoani Fabi:
And I was looking at off shoulder Boleros like this Aire Barcelona one:
I’m wondering if it would look good or just tacky? I’m trying to find a cute stylish way to slightly cover up without it looking too bulky. I like the skintight lace as opposed to the jackets. I was even trying to find a cute long/ mind length sleeve tight “tee” and I would wear it under the dress? I’m not too sure. I saw lace bodysuits at american apparel but the edges of the sleeves and the neckline wasn’t really nice. These off shoulder bolero’s are gorg but are pricey, I wanted to get opinions before attempting to make my own. Please and thank you! 🙂

I personally would not cover up the beautiful Fabi dress, I think it’s such a perfect dress! However, it’s all about what you’re comfortable with. If you want a cover up, that’s completely understandable and I think the one you choose is stunning. I think it would compliment the dress very beautifully and be a bit different than the traditional bolero. I love it!

If you’re required to cover it for the ceremony, I’d go with a more traditional bolero, since you’d probably have to have your shoulders covered. If you don’t need it, I’d leave the dress as it is – it’s beautiful.

If you’re going with the black sash, I would say the dress needs a simpler bolero, but if not, I say go for it!

I just did a quick search and this site has some great bolero option you may want to check out – http://www.tulipbridal.com/Bridal-Lace-Bolero-Jacket_c_8.html
Since the Fabi has ruching on the bust, I think the Aire bolero might not look right (although I’ve always thought they make the most gorgeous lace tops!!)
Maybe something like this would be pretty?

You could also simply have some cap sleeves made, like a mini-bolero. It was one of the options that I considered with a dress I that I in the end didn’t pick. The bridal salon had several varieties that I tried on.

Thanks gals for all your opinions! I’m actually going with the rhinestone belt (forgot to add that)
When I tried on my dress, I tried on some of the longer sleeved jackets that the store had, and it didn’t look good on me, I have a short torso/body. I’m really petite (4’11”). So I figured the more tight stretched lace would probably look better but I thought I’d get a 2nd opinion. I wish i could wear it the way it is, but bc of religious and cultural values It must be more covered up or more modest.
@csdncer2013 I was actually worried about how it would look on ruching as well. But thanks for that link! There’s a lot of affordable ones on there! I’m guessing the Aire Barcelona one would be $200+

I know the last post on this was 2 months ago but I’m looking to do something really similar…I love this look! It’s so pretty & different from a regular bolero. I’ve seen some nice ones on Etsy too… I really liked one (if you search ‘kiss me in bariloche’ it will show up’) that looks similar to the one you posted & is 87$. I also really like the look of Pronovias Iman with the lace jacket. Any updates on what you decided to do? 🙂

@Nurse Hi there! I went over the choices to my fiance and he actually prefered if I was more covered up than showing my shoulders. So I started looking at longer sleeved lace coverups. i found this on etsy:
But when i spoke to my dress designer (who’s designing and creating my cultural dress) he suggested I use plain chiffon rather than lacy bc of the texture of my dress. Since my dress isnt lacy. But ill get some more opinions before settling. So if the person who is altering my dress suggests the same ill have someone make me one like these:
