- Wedding: October 2013
I recently posted about this but didnt have pics. Now i do!
I have a unique 18k Engagement Ring and finally found the perfect match! Problem is, the wedding band is in Platinum. 3times my original budget. I quickly realized that to match my e-ring, i am going to have to pay more.
The jeweler said she could custom duplicate the Platinum one in a 14K to lower the price. It came back slightly brighter than the 18K Engagement Ring even though they rhodium coated both to try to match tone. Also, it is a bit shorter in height and smaller in mm on the band. The top also does not curve like the Platinum band. She suggested I wear it 7days and decide. Otherwise, she will exchange it for the Platinum one, but with $600 more to pay! I wore it 3 days and got used to the differences, and figured I would be practical and keep the 14K duplicate. Now it is 8 days past and I cant stop thinking about the Platinum one! I am so indecisive! I feel like the 14K is beautiful, but feel like I am settling… The Platinum one just sang to me and really matched my Ering perfectly.
What would you do? Which one do you like better??
The one above is the Platinum one. The original one I fell in love with. Notice the curve after the diamonds into the dent of the ring. It mimics the curves of my Engagement Ring.
The last two pics are of the Custom 14K band. See how the curves are gone? The color is a bit brighter, and the band is skinnier. It feels dinky in comparison to the Engagement Ring.
Which would you choose? The practical side of me says “keep the 14K one, I could get used to it. It is still a gorgeous ring” Then the indulgent/perfectionist side of me says “Dont Settle! What’s $600 more bucks when you will wear it a lifetime! You are not getting a dress and are having a courthouse wedding so you dont waste your money on a one day event.”
Ahhh! lol thanks ladies!
