hmm well the traditionalist in me would say after. :) that way its a pure celebration after and you can just focus on getting to hawaii and doing one thing at a time. :)
I would have the reception after you get married. As a guest, I would feel strange celebrating your marriage, without you really being married. Just my opinion.

I would say after because then people can congratulate you! Plus it would seem more like a real "reception" to me if it took place after the wedding. Either way would work, but traditionally speaking I think most people do it after if they are having one back home after a destination wedding.
If you really want to have it before, you can call it a "bon voyage" party and give it a Hawaiian theme. My sister did that right before heading out on a cruise with a small group of family and friends who attended the actual wedding on board.
I vote for after. That way you can share wedding pictures and other wedding details with your guests. And if you have a video, you can show it at the beginning.They'll want to see that and it's a fun way to celebrate.And your pictures and/or video will be the next best thing to being there.
In my opinion, I think you should do it after your Hawaii trip : ) Good luck!
I would wait until you guys get back. Think about being able to actually have the reception as a Mrs. rather than a still future Mrs.

So in my previous post about Hawaii, we have decided to go with my friends aunt and uncle for them to renew their vows and for us to get married..
now on telling the parents.. we are telling his side first.. in the am.. lol i hope they take it well..
so here comes where i need the opinion.. Should we have the reception before or after the Hawaii trip? I said before that way the family can wish us luck and also for those who cant make it can be there and wish us a happy honeymoon since its a double whammy. The fiance on the other hand says to do it after the Hawaii trip.. but doesnt know why lol
So what do you Bees think?
