I that that as long as there are other gray and purple "pops" in the room it'll look great!
I really love both piecies.
I'm not 100% sure the color of the chair and the color of the rug work together. I love the styling together it's just hard to picture the chair/rug combo in a room.
How many chairs would you get? Which room would this go in?
gray and purple are awesome together (see: my bedroom)! things don't have to be so matchy-matchy but more coordinated. i think i need this rug!
Two, in an oddly shaped den.
We're trying to break up a long den into a tv area and a reading area. This would be for the reading area. Along the back of the sofa facing the tv, we would have a half book shelf that makes an L shape with a full-wall bookshelf on the adjacent wall. The rug would go in the center of this area (bordered by the bookshelves and another wall), and the chairs would be against the free wall with a small coffee table between them. Also, the rug is going on white terrazzo. We plan on painting the unattractive yellow walls to a darker purple soon :)
@relaxedabout it: Oh I definitely don't think things need to be "matchy matchy" i'm just not 100% sure on this color coordination. It's probably the lack of the rest of the room that's throwing me off though.

I like the rug, but I'm not crazy about the chair. It looks uncomfortable to me.
you could even do the walls a lighter purple to keep it bright. i could go on with this all day and even work part time at pier 1 bc i LOVE helping people put together their homes.
i'd maybe pop some yellow (not the wall- a pillow?) in there.
KatNYC2011: matchy matchy was my MO for so long- it never occurred to me until about 7 years ago that my ENTIRE room from duvet to walls to clock didn't have to be blue. now i work so hard to mix and match!
@relaxedabout it: I like the idea of a pop of color, but living in New Orleans, it's hard for people to NOT associate purple and yellow with LSU ;)
FI went there, but we are by no means the kind of people who would decorate our home in Tiger paraphernalia. How do you feel about a bright green?
YES! bright green. that's the accent in my bedroom- bright green night stands.
the lighting/coloring is off in this picture, but here's the breakdown:
dark purple curtains
gray/white/light purple striped quilt
dark gray sheets
purple/gray wall art (framed scrapbook paper)
green night stands
doggy ear :)
Thanks for the opinions, all! Decided to buy just the rug for now. The 5x8s might be out, but in case any of you were interested, they still have larger sizes!
I like the rug and think the color combo is fine. However, I'd go with a deeper, more well padded and inviting chair with arms for a reading nook. When I'm grabbing a good book, I want a chair to curl up in, preferable with a super soft blanket to keep me warm, and a side table at a good height for resting my cuppa something hot.
