I know this might not be the best place to post this, but the ladies here have been so sweet in the past, and I really need prayers right now.
My 6-year-old pitbull/boxer mix, Chloe, has been hospitalized since Monday. She’s had what we thought was pneumonia for about three weeks, but wasn’t responding to the antibiotics. On Saturday we found out she had a pneumothorax, meaning air was leaking from her lungs into her chest cavity and causing her lungs to collapse. She went into cardiac arrest at the veterinary ER on Monday, and DH and I were given very little hope for her survival. Her vitals were unstable, she was being kept in a special oxygen cage to help her breathe, and she had a tube in her side to allow the air a way out. We prayed all night, and Chloe’s vitals miraculously stabilized! By Tuesday afternoon, she was out of the oxygen cage and even sitting up and eating! Then today we found out that the condition of her lungs is not improving on stronger antibiotics like we hoped it would. The doctors are still getting a lot of air out of her chest tube every 4 hours, and they don’t know why. So now the only thing that might help Chloe is surgery to find the cause of the air leak and hopefully remove it.
As much as we love Chloe and want to do everything we can to help her, DH and I just don’t have the money for the surgery. We have set up a fundraising page (not posting it here, I know it’s not allowed), but it’s hard to imagine we can figure it out within the next couple of days.
Please just pray that we will find a way to help our poor girl. After seeing her fight so hard and having hope that she’ll get better, I can’t bear the thought of losing her.
