Hi Bees, I registered and had my shower already, but then took some unpurchased items off my registry (trying to hint at wedding guests to just give cash) but my boss’ wife called today and said she saw the pots and pans on there and wanted to get them for us, but we took them off. I think they were Simply Calphalon, non stick – a 14 piece set – but we kind of just registered for it quickly and didnt spend much time picking them out. Now that I know I will definitely be getting pots and pans, I want to make sure they are good ones. Can anyone suggest a good set at or under $300?

It’s a few hundred more than what your range is – but, we thought about this for a VERY long time. We both like to cook and being in our mid-30’s, we each had other pots and pans. The set we went for was the All-Clad, Stainless Steel, d5 technology. They are AWESOME and have a lifetime guarantee. We got them at Williams Sonoma.
Maybe consider doing invidividual pieces vs. an actual set – tell her you took it off the registry because you put it on there without thought and realized you wanted another kind???
You also might consider doing a varying collection of cookware – depending on how much cooking you do. Meaning – one great stainless stockpot, one great stainless pan, one great non-stick skillet, one great cast iron pan… etc…

My stepmom very generously gave us a pots and pans set when we moved in together. It’s by Cusinart. It costs much less than all-clad, but the quality is just as good, IMO. It’s something like $250 for a 10-piece set. They’re sturdy, heat evenly, and are good for just about everything.

I got the Calphalon Tri-Ply Stainless Steel Cookware 13 piece set. So far its been great… My mother has given me a few all clad stainless pieces too, and the both are great for me. I like the stainless cause I can be more rough with it and use stainless tools and stuff and not worry about scratching the nonstick.
