@marie717: Well, I can't recommend anyone personally. But go to Craigslist-found my photog there and he was awesome and inexpensive for a bare-bones photography package (not sure if he does videography). But there are like, 20 million aspiring filmmakers in LA. Shouldn't be too hard to find one who wants some experience plus a few bucks:) Contact the LA Film School on Sunset or the depts. at USC or UCLA. Or even CSUN has a really good film/t.v. program.
Good luck:)
I'm interested in people's responses to this because I have the same attitude and I'm looking for the same thing up to $1000. So far the cheapest I've founs is $1500.
Forgot to vote the first time. I was married once before and I swear we watched it once and never took it out again. Funny story about some friends: They were showing their wedding video for the first time to a sick relative in the hospital and for some reason, right in the middle of it, there was a 30 second shot of a random man having sex with a woman who was nine months pregnant. lol
Everyone was just stunned. Makes you wonder where the footage came from in the first place. lol
$500 is very low for any professional videographer. With all due respect to you, most videographer wouldn't find it worth their time for that low price for their service. I am an aspiring videographer, and I can tell you that post editing work is VERY tedious and time consuming at the least!
I quote you;
..just looking for bare bones, capturing it, looping it onto a cheesy reel and done.
It sounds like something a friend or relative would produce in terms of a wedding video. Low end camcorder or even a pocket camera on video mode all edited on Windows movie. Trust me, you'd be better off not even having it done in the first place.
For your sake I really hope you do find someone who's capable of producing decent work for you at that price.
i went with one in ventura county they were awesome and i got to choose from raw footage or the edited version which was a nice option since i wanted to see the whole thing. let me know if you want their contact information i can try to find it.

They quoted me for $400 for a three hour coverage with one camera and editing, but I haven't used them yet so can't give you first hand recommendation.
I own a production company called Raw Fiction Pictures that specializes in wedding and event videography, documentaries and short films. Our prices range from $550 for our most basic package to $1400 for our premium package. To see a sample of our work check out one of our wedding trailers on Vimeo.

I am looking for a cheap videographer for my wedding-
The truth is that I don't want videography at all but I realize that I have one shot at capturing it on video and if I don't I might regret it, so I am going to do it, but its not something I care about and am spending money on - I got a great photog which is what i care about...just looking for bare bones, capturing it, looping it onto a cheesy reel and done.
I'm thinking $400-$500? Can anyone recommend someone? THANKS!
