Hey gals - just bought a dress at a sample sale and I will need some minor alterations (a bit of taking in if i hopefully drop some pounds, maybe a little extra bling, and possibly a shoulder strap). Has anyone had any good experiences and could recommend someone reasonably priced? Would totally appreciate it!

Just bumping this up... I am looking for an affordable Brooklyn or Manhattan tailor/seamstress recommendation for my wedding gown. Anyone? Would very much appreciate it!

one of the first recommendations i got for my wedding was for a seamstress ...this lady came highly recommended by a good friend as well as an aquaintance, both were very happy with the work done for their wedding dresses, my friend even had her reception dress altered too.

I think she is located in the west village, and works out of an apt. My friend said she is very nice and easy to work with and doesnt rush you. She was charged about $400 but she had A LOT of work done on her wedding dress: it was like 2 sizes too big and plus it was made of lace which makes alterations more difficult, she also had the waistline taken it, shoulder strap shortened, length shortened, the train trimmed, had the cups made a lot smaller and had padding added,  etc etc. a lot was altered!

It turns out i dont need a seamstress since the place I am purchasing my dress from seems to be able to handle my alterations, but I've definitely had this vendor in the back of my file just in case!

Susan Ruddie, aka The Wedding Dresser, she is really out of this world.  Her work is extremely detail oriented and she is meticulous for getting the dress to fit like a glove.  I just had my final fitting and was seriously floored and how amazing it came out!

@suttonista: Do you have info on Susan Ruddie? Also how much were the alterations and how long did they take?

Edit: NEVERMIND. found her on yelp!
