simone_s:  As for the contacting the jobs, I would wait for them to contact you. If they want to hire you – they will definitely get in touch. That said, I’d give it a couple more days if you do decided that you want to contact them. You dont know what may have happened – maybe HR was out sick, or had an emergency, etc. 

I’m not sure about postponing – I think you need to wait and see what happens. November is 6 months away. In the meantime – why don’t you go look for a job waitressing or at a clothing store, etc.? There is nothing wrong with having a transition job AND it will bring another income back into your family which will take some stress off of you. I don’t know if you’re on unemployment, but I believe you can work part time and still collect unemployment.

Have you already put down deposits for the Nov 6 date? If not, it might make sense to postpone, just until you have a job and have things sorted out. My husband lost his job while we were wedding planning, but we can get by fine on just my salary, so it wasn’t as much of a problem. Is there any way you guys can cut back on bills (cancel cable/Netflicks/Amazon Prime, don’t eat out, etc.)?
