I’m posting on my phone, so I apologize if this photo is huge. I had a halo setting added to my oval ring by Shane Co. After getting it back I noticed that one of my side stones now has a charcoal color to it. You can see it in the picture below, second one down from the head. At first I thought it might have been a shadow, but I tried it at all angles and I still see it. This photo in particular has light coming in from the right. Can anyone else see what I see or am I crazy? Also, is it possible to burn a stone?
Ive emailed the jeweler since I am dealing with the online department (We’ve since moved away from our local Shane Co.) Still waiting to hear back.

Could it be that the metal under the accent stone has become discolored from the work done to make the halo?

jareese425: Or does it just need to be cleaned?

Definitely see it – maybe a local jeweler can look through the loupe and give u an idea of what they think happened so u can report to Shane Co?

I can definitely see it and I think the bees above me gave good suggestions. Did you include a photo with your email? To provide a visual for whoever responds to you. Hope they sort it out soon, it looks like such a pretty ring!

You are definitely NOT crazy…I can clearly see what you’re talking about. You did the right thing by contacting the company…send them pictures too so it’s all documented. I agree with the other bee’s advice and hopefully it’ll end up just being a piece of dirt.

Its most likely gold solder from working on your ring and should be no problem to remove

It could also be a bit of polishing compound left behind. It can be quite stubborn to remove, it’s best to have it professionally cleaned by the jeweler.

I noticed before I even read your post specifying the issue. Hopefully the fix is just a good cleaning!
