Won't be here for a few days (going to see some family tomorrow) but would really appreciate some input!
I heart Mr. Belle so much! Tonight he and I flipped thru a Caribbean travel magazine and began the tedious process. So many choices!
He's babysitting my furbaby while I'm off visiting my family (who incidentally are having their home remodeled and the guest bedroom is no more thus he's at home. I'm bunking with my 13 yo niece! She told me today when she called me that she can't wait to show me her latest gossip magazines and have me listen to the Jonas Bros cd...SAVE ME PLEASE! lol!)![]()
Ok. I didn't get replies on this one, but would love my fellow bees to suggest away a destination!
We've been reading alot of travel mags, and cannot wait!
Where should we go on this trip?
Are you looking for somewhere warm? If so, what about South Florida? Miami? Or the Keys? The Bahamas is VERY close-- you could always go there for a warm getaway!
Thanks Beachbride T! I am indeed looking for somewhere sunny. Our only requirement is that it's 3 hours or less flight. I love Miami, but want something a teeny bit more tropical than that. Key West is a possibility, but we want this to be utterly amazing..
It's going to be so incredible! We will get engaged sometime on ithe trip, but I will have no idea when on the trip, where, or how! Bahamas might be awesome! I've been to Atlantis many times, but never to the Cove at Atlantis. Also I do like the One and Only Ocean Club nearby too.
Don't worry about the location - it will be amazing and unforgettable wherever you are! My FI and I live on Maui, but he proposed in my parent's back yard in Pennsylvania on a snowy cold day. It will be romantic and amazing no matter where you are.
How about the Cayman Islands or Turks and Caicos? Both should be right around 3 hours from Atlanta. I have been to both and had great expierences.
I saw on your blog that you have to renew your passport. I would suggest doing that ASAP as the State Department is busy this time of year.
What a neat present. What do you guys like to do? I would suggest New Orleans or DC if you like to do city stuff (museums, wonderful restaurants, etc) and I second the Miami idea. You could also drive through Savannah or even all the way to Charleston. I'm sure you've gotten lots of great ideas from your travel lit -- you and your soon to be fiance should decide. It will be wonderful whereever it takes place! Have fun!
Thanks so much everybody and hugs and best wishes to all b2b here!
Ankile, that sounds so incredible that you and your fiance get to enjoy the beauty of Hawaii every day! And while it will be incredible anywhere it happens, it is going to happen on a trip. Mind you, I would be even thrilled if he slipped it on my finger in the airport before we even left town!
But he's trying to be creative. I give any groom to be kudos for creativity!
Those are good suggestions ChicagoSeattle! Never been to T&K but have been to Grand Cayman before. T&K might be lovely for a weekend relaxing and engagi-moon-ing!
Mary-Alice-Me those are also wonderful suggestions. We want to do something we haven't done. We have gone away on several vacations but all but one have involved family. Last year we did have an amazing getaway to Savannah and to the georgia coast. It was wonderful and very romantic. Savannah is gorgeous!
We're still going over the brochures.
And it's confusing.
I have read online as of late that since the economy is in the dumps, that there's less of a demand for passports. I have to already get one for when we do get married (we will be definitely going out of the country and i am hoping for costa rica)so this is something I need to get done right away anyhow.
Has anybody used the expedited passport services/businesses out there and any good results?
Thanks and hope you're all having a wonderful weekend and great new year thus far!

Costa Rica?
Mrs. Bee and I went there a year or two ago, when we were in a similar situation to you (didn't have much time to travel, wanted to go somewhere warm but not too distant). It was a lot of fun - Bee blogged about it on Weddingbee, if you have a few to search for it!
Thanks Mr. Bee! I will search for that. Where did you both stay and in what part of the country? We're just doing a short trip. Jobs are both demanding right now (my clinical site now is being split into 3 different locations so we'll be going thru considerable change in the early spring) and we can pencil in three days for this journey reasonably.
We'd love to honeymoon in Costa Rica, plus I own a blue and gold macaw and would love to see some of his relatives in the wild and was a biology major in college. Zip line here I come! But I doubt we could fit in terribly alot in only 3 days for the E trip.
So far, on the short list is Puerto Rico (where I was born incidentally..Air Force bratt), Bahamas, Key West, and I love the suggestions of the Turks n Caicos islands.
Mr. Belle is trying his best to be creative with the engage-i-moon idea. It was kinda hilarious actually. For Christmas I got him quite a few things including some custom made cufflinks, and there was only one little lonely card for me under the tree. I was feeing rather forlorn until I opened it and read it. From a woman's perspective, a card as a gift is usually well..NOT a good thing, but from Mr. Belle's creative perspective it was. When I read it I began jumping for joy!
Bellenga, you might want to go to the US GOV's passport website. There is info there on how backed up they are on passport renewals right now.
I have to get mine renewed as well, and when I checked the last week in December, it said that they were averaging three weeks to renew passports, and the expedited service could be done in 2 weeks. So you might be able to get it renewed faster than you think, especially if you can send it out on Monday or Tuesday. The renewal form is pretty straight forward.
Here are some of Bee's post about our trip!
I believe Miss Coconut also went to Costa Rica...Woo hoo!
I am now accessing the lovely trip photos and thanks so much Mr. B!
That is incredible news!

Wow..you two did all that in 3 days?
I would LOVE to do the ziplines..but the little little plane? I am sadly scared of flying in anything less than a large jet. Silly I know.
Those pics and videos are great! I keep flipping back to watch the videos!
Your hotel looked gorgeous. I also had looked at Paradisus for a wedding (since I want a destination wedding) or the Four Seasons. But yours was really close it seems to alot of the action and it's very very lovely too. Location is everything when it comes to Costa Rica right? Or is everything miles away involving driving and/or flying?
The Paradisus had some really lovely wedding packages also and some could be customized.
I am really torn.
I also like the hacienda tres rios. I just got on their site and it seems like a great place for 3 days also.
Anybody ventured to Hacienda Tres Rios?
Costa Rica is amazing, I would recommend it!! They have some pretty spectacular horseback riding adventures, rainforest hikes, etc.
Another idea is Roatan, a small island off of the Honduras Coast. They are near the second largest barrier reef in the world, which makes for some amazing diving. They have some direct flights from Atlanta and Houston, I believe on Thursdays and Saturdays?
Good luck, and congrats!
I think Puerto Rico is a great place to go and no passport required! Also another option which is less traveled is Belize. I personally have lived there for months and highly recommend it for any of those ecotourist types :)
Good Luck!
I think we stayed four nights... well at least, that's what Bee's post says! Phew it's good she blogged this, or I'd never remember any of this stuff :-)

The plane wasn't bad at all... the roads in most countries like Costa Rica aren't that good, and all that driving can create a lot of carsickness!

We're going to plan an e-getaway!
That was my Christmas present from Mr. Belle!
During that trip, IT will happen but I won't know when, how or any details of it at all. Just that at some time on that trip, I will become even happier than I could ever imagine!
Now here's the kicker. We are located near Atlanta (a little north). Many available nonstop flights from our airport. But because of a hectic work schedule (mine) we can only go for a very long weekend (leave on a thursday evening late and return on a sunday evening). And because of the time constraints, we wish to have only 3 hr or less flight time too! Yours truly is also renewing her passport the week after New Year and will use expedited service incidently so we can either work around the need for a passport or we can go in February.
I would kindly invite you to visit me on my xanga site www.xanga.com/atlgabelle and tell me your vote for where we should go and any other suggestions!
Much Holiday Happiness to all Bees here, near, and far!
Love,
Belle in Georgia!~
