for me middle names are for family/friends/people or places that have affected you positively that you honor your child with - rather than picking out a random name from the internet maybe there is a name that you think of positively and can share that with your son
btw, how do you pronounce Kinsler??
I like how one syllable names sound with 2 syllables. What about Kinsler James?
Mr kindlings middle names are their grandfathers first names. The eldest is my daughter, she has my FIs fathers name for a middle name. His is Peiter, we changed it to Peta. He died a few years ago, so it was a way of ensuring that he became part of her identity.
When our son was born, we figured the tradition had been set, so he got my Fathers name as his middle name, which is Robert.
I agree that the middle name should be meaningful. How about DH's name?
@AutumnMrs: I thought of that too. OP, what is the significance if the first name? I haven't heard of that one.
We first heard the name from Texas rangers 2nd baseman his name is Ian Kinsler.. We are huge baseball/rangers fans! We are contemplating using dh grandfathers name Mack but I'm not a huge fan.

youre not a huge fan of his GF or of the name Mack? in years to come what name do you think your son will feel more honored about, named after his great grandfather or a name mom picked off an internet forum that has no meaning
edit: sorry, dont mean to preach
My brothers are named for my father and grandfather, I always said that if I had a little boy his middle name would be my mother's maiden name (MacLean). I agree with PP's you should pick a name that means something to you not just a name that you find on an internet forum. I think that Kinsler Mack sounds good together. :)
Lol geeez...my name doesn't have any family significance and I turned out just fine. Who knows where my mother got it from. Don't know why Kinsler Reid popped into my head!!! Not a super fan of Kinsler Mack exactly lol but do you have any name options that you are liking??
i think it is a good idea to choose a name that means something to you, but if you don't like the name Mack, don't use it, plenty of other names out there that would mean something to you :) like favourite author, or perhaps your grandfather's name. or even Kinsler Ian?
I agree that I prefer middle names that have some meaning. I do like Kinsler Mac. I know you said you prefer less traditional names, but I would perhaps consider having a more common middle name with such an unusual first name. That way, if the child decides he would like to go by a more common name, he could use his middle name.

We are naming our baby boy Kinsler, we haven't decided on a middle name and I can't think of anything that really sticks out to me that I like. DH suggested Ryan, but I know way too many people with that middle name. I kind of want to stay away from really popular names even for a middle. Should the middle name only have 1 syllable since the first name has 2. Any ideas are welcome!
