I feel like this is my 100th post about the date/time of my wedding.
The more I talk to people, the worse and worse I feel about our wedding date.
I need some reassurance that I didn’t make the BIGGEST mistake, ever!
We chose to get married on the Friday of the Labour Day long weekend at 3pm in the afternoon, in Niagara Falls.
I am having nightmares and trouble falling asleep (which is why I am on here at exactly 12:00AM, posting about this.
I keep having dreams & fear that everyone is going to be late to our ceremony, since there will be insane traffic on this day, headed in the direction of my wedding. I fear that none of our guests will show. Or our photographers, hair & make up… groom!!
Someone, tell me they have done this before and that it worked out?? Please! 🙁

Calm down. People know there will be traffic and plan accordingly to get there on time. Wedding vendors especially, as it makes for bad business to come late. I have heard of people making it in thunderstorms and all sorts of natural calamities. Sure some people may come late, but that’s in any scenario, as these people are always likely to come late. If you’re really worried that guest X or vendor X won’t make it on time, a gentle email reminder of the traffic/locale can never hurt. It’ll be fine. Now go to bed. =)

Breathe. It will all be ok. You picked a friday so most of your guests will probably be leaving work early to be there or will be off work for the day already in anticipation. You will have guests. Hair dressers, make up artists, photographers will all be waiting to be paid so you bet your butt they will be there too! If it helps, we booked the Civic holiday weekend on a Saturday (Aug 4) without realizing it was a holiday! So we are in the same boat. You will hear from guests before you actually even send out invites if they’re coming or not, people get sooo excited! My receptionist actually changed her holidays so she could come to our wedding. Trust me, it will all work out.

It will be fine! People will know there will be traffic so I’m sure they will plan accordingly. I also agree that it can’t hurt to send out a nice email with a sweet reminder to this effect. As fir your vendors they will be there! They have done this before 🙂
I chose to get married on the Friday of Father’s day weekend so all my out if town guest are having difficulty finding decent flights :(. I didn’t realize it until it was too late to change the date.
