@tinynay: I'd try a google search for local officiants. You can also contact the City Hall of where you're getting married and they can put you in touch with those who deal with them.
Also, as outdated as this sounds, check out the phone book! Sometimes, you can find names there that you can't find online.
If you are a grad student, have you thought about asking a fellow grad? Maybe someone that was on your "maybe" list of invites? Or someone you weren't planning on inviting at all? You could offer them $100 (every grad likes to make a little extra cash). The only down side is you will probably have to create the entire ceremony yourself...but there is so much online that the process should not be too hard.
that is a brilliant idea. I will ask around.
so that would mean that my fiance and I would need to go to the courthouse and get officially married there, correct?
@tinynay: check with your local courthouse. I know in my state, you can have someone write a letter to the judges and pay a filing fee to request the permission/privilage to marry one couple. (if that makes sense?)
just check with the courthouse and they can explain how you can have a friend marry you. Then, that person has the permission to marry you and sign the certificate and stuff legally. It's also a one-time-only type agreement.
@tinynay: Check out weddingsbyterri.com. Wonderful, wonderful couple, Mark and Terri, that efficent, friendly, caring and really funny. I was provided a template and was able to create the wedding I desired. Mark, was my officiant, and was a Pro. All of my guest remarked how cool he was considering the ceremony was an hour late. I was able to have three readings and my 91yr grandmother Blessed our Union. It was truly Awesome.
I highly suggest you contact Mark and Terri. You won't be disappointed.
Good Luck!!!!

Go to this website, it tells you how someone you know can legally marry you. I live in Riverside County and it's costing $50.00 for the application fee for my father in law to marry my son and his fiance.

Hi Everyone,
I am looking for a wedding officiant or a justice of the court to marry us in Orange County, CA.
We want someone with a good sense of humor but professional. Neither of us are religious so we don't need any formal ceremonies of any particular type conducted.
I would appreciate any referrals.
I am a graduate student and on a tight budget. How much do wedding officiant's generally run for in Orange County, CA? Is there a price break on Sundays?
Thank you!
