So, here's the deal...My sister is 100% broke and can't afford a wedding dress.  My parents are pretty strapped for cash as well.  I'm tapped out because as a gift, I'm doing her invitations, wedding cake, and not to mention paying for showers, BM dress, etc.  So, needless to say, my sister is having to seriously work on finding a cheap dress.

She is not picky about the quality of fabric or that every detail is "perfect."  She found a dress on www.thecustomdress.com that was only $250.  Ofcourse, my instincts kick and I tell her that ordering a dress online like that is probably not a good idea, that the price is too good to be true, yada yada yada...  Incase anyone has seen a dress similiar to the one she wants, here is what she's looking for:  http://www.thecustomdresses.com/special-offer/christina-wu-style-wedding-dresses-1591015.html

I told her I would post here just to see if anyone has tried this website or a similar one like it.  Or, if you have any other ideas on where she can find a cheap dress, that would be GREAT!!!  Craigslist has been hit & miss and ebay is just as scary as the online place.

Also, has anyone tried lightinthebox.com?  We found a cute bridesmaid dress there, but for the same reasons, I'm leary about it.

    Thanks so much guys!!!

My future sister in law's friend has used helenebridal.com from her bridesmaid dresses so we're trying that too. They've got wedding dresses on there. You could look there.

I ordered mine through a seller on dhgate.com for a similar price to the dress you posted.  I probably won't get it until tomorrow and won't be able to try it on until the weekend, but once I inspect it and try it on, I'll let you know how it goes.

I think if your sister has about 250.00 to spend on a wedding dress she could definitely find something on sale at David's Bridal for that amount or on www.preownedweddingdresses.com. Also, I think at Filene's basement "Running of the Brides" some of the gowns are 249.

She could also check out bridesmaid dresses from different designers for that price. Also, if she's willing to add her own embelishment to a dress she should check out Aria wedding dresses (they even offer a mail try-on program):

    Good luck!

@jubyju22:  I'll check out preownedweddingdresses.  She tried David's Bridal, but all the ones she liked were beyond her price range...yet she looked at those websites and saw similar dresses that were within her budget.  I explained to her that the quality will be different, so hopefully she truly understands that.  Thank you so much for the suggestions!

I got one from an ebayer...here's my review. Hope that helps! I think any chinese dressmaker is hit and miss but I also think you may not be dissapointed if you have reasonable expectations.

Has she considered getting an ivory bridesmaid dress? It won't be as elaborate but would probably run her $150-200 Bari Jay makes some fabulous ones. Plus she could spend money she has left over on a beaded belt or some other accessory to punch it up a bit.
