AVOID ANYTHING FRIGIDAIRE!!!!! The front loaders are absolutely terrible. Dryer has issues too (with the door latch). I literally have had nothing but problems with them. (However, they do clen well, when they work, which is rarely). I believe Electrolux bought Frigidaire and Whirlpool. Complete and utter shit.

I built my home 4 years ago and got all new stuff, after ‘researching’ a lot. A lot of good that did me. My advice is get a good product even if it’s expensive. You absolutely get what you pay for.

@gingerbreadgirl:  I have red front loaders and I like them a lot. I just asked my husband and he said they are made by Samsung. I wanted them because they are red. Yes, I’m that person 😛 He chose the brand.

We have a LG front loading washer and a LG dryer and I really like them. I can’t wait to get the stands for them though. I even like them for our cloth diapers when a lot of people dont like front loaders for diapers.

If you’re able to use gas dryers, do so. It’ll make a huge difference on your utility bills. We have gas, and friends have electric, we have comparable size homes and comparable laundry needs, and our gas bill is slightly higher than theirs (a few bucks), but their electricity bill is easily around $30.00 more expenesive than ours.

We just bought a whirlpool front loading set during lowes black friday sales. It was pretty pricey even then but oh man was it worth it! They are amazing! The comparable samsung and LG models are supposed to be just as good; we picked whirlpool to buy American haha :).

Don’t buy cheap. It’a worth the money.

Ugh, I hate my front loading washer/dryer. It can only dry half a load (and loads are small to begin with in front loaders) and the house smells like burning rubber when it does dry.

We have front loaders, and honestly my husband and family hates them.   They don’t clean as well as the old top loaders, and the use the high efficiency (more expensive) detergent, AND they take smaller loads.  The dryer never seems to dry well, not sure if it is just ours.

DH says when we buy our new place that we are going to find an old stock top load dryer, even if we have to buy it and ship it in from a different country, LOL!

I do not like front loaders. They have a tendency to mold if the door isn’t left open after finishing a load.

We have a set of Samsung front loaders that we bought about 2 years ago. LOVE them. They were either the top of the line or one step below it. Don’t go cheap if you can help it- it’s worth it to get the good ones.

DO NOT get a “budget” front load washer. Everyone I know who has one has issues (leaks mostly, but also bad smells not gotten rid of be sterilizing, warped drums, unreliable water temps…). If you can’t afford a super nice front load washer, get a top load one. Front load dryers aren’t as bad, but the ‘HE’ ones are… yuck!

Just bought a new set this past week. We ended up with a top loader GE washer and matching GE dryer. I am not a fan of the front loaders, plus our laundry is in the basement so who sees it except us?! It was a brand new set for $399 a piece at a scratch and dent store, apparently they have weekly specials, and a brand new set was it.Home Depot sells the same set:

I absolutely LOVE my new washer/dryer!  We always had front-loaders in the past & were mostly unhappy with them, so we went for a High Efficiency top-load model.  They are my favorite washer/dryer I have ever owned.  Huge capacity, great cleaning & a couple different models to choose from depending on how many bells & whistles you want.  I got the upper end washer model & the cheaper dryer.  They still match perfectly.  Definitely check them out..

We brought our LG top loader (WT-H2006) about 6 months ago and never looked back – we looked at the front loaders but price wise the top loader gave us more bang for our buck.

Our dryer is a Fisher&Paykel – it was a hand me down from my MIL so I don’t know model but we’ve had no issues what so ever and it would be at least 9-10 years old now.

Before these I had brought cheapies (our local Kmart) and had nothing but trouble with the dryer so I wouldn’t scrimp there again. The washer was ok but not very water efficient so this time I researched, oh and it was the prettiest one there 😉
