Let me start by saying I love FI to death, but planning is not his strong suit. I know this and as a result didn't ask him to do much towards the planning. In fact, with the exception of saying that if he wanted us to have a honeymoon and/or a rehearsal dinner he (alone or with help - just not mine) I only asked him to do things I couldn't do for him (like get measured for his tux).
Here's the problem, we are 22 days from our wedding. My priest and I have been telling him since March or April that he needed to speak with his priest about getting a letter of dispensation issued (I'm Anglican - He's Roman Catholic). Well, last week, before he left to go on vacation, he tried to get in touch with his Church. Today, he and the priest finally connect. The priest tells him "you should really have started this 6 months ago. We really want you to attend one pre - Cana class and the last one before your scheduled wedding was last Saturday." It came up that FI is going to be 50 just 2 days before the wedding which seemed to placate the priest some, "oh, you're not a 20 something making this decision". Nonetheless, he cannot guarantee that he can get the bishop to sign the letter in time for the wedding. FI answer to me when I told him "I asked you months ago to do this" was "I didn't think it would be that big a deal".
UGH!!! So everyone please keep your fingers crossed that this one will work. I need all the help I can get.
