I’ve got a summer cold. Ugh! I stayed home all day yesterday and slept 6am-11am, then 1pm-3pm, and finally 8pm-6am this morning. Whew!
I’m at work today, but can only breathe through one nostril. I’m taking Dayquil which seems to be working with all of the other symptoms.
Does anyone have any fun home remedies that make you feel better when you have a cold? I’d appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

When I’ve got a cold I make sure to drink TONS of water while I’m at work. When I’m at home, if I’m not in bed sleeping, I’m in a HOT HOT shower and let the steam build up and help break up some of the head gunk. I swear on hot black tea with honey and lemon. I hope you feel better soon!

I see a honey trend here! Thanks ladies! I’m definitely going to try this tonight, and have been loading up on the water here at work.

Chamomile tea to help you sleep, menthol and camphor in the shower to help you breathe, a bath with rosemary and clove to help ease the congestion and relax you. Don’t overdo the fluids, you can actually dehydrate yourself! Lots of vitamin C and B vitamins in the morning to help you wake up and start your immune system.

This is kind of a different thing, but here’s a recipe for homemade dry shampoo:
1/4 cup oats
1/2 tsp baking soda
Grate them up in a mortar & pestle, or a coffee grinder. I also added a pinch of dried chamomile (from an herbal tea) to mine! And the awesome thing is, it doesn’t really smell like anything. YAY!
