So I have been having a really difficult time planning my wedding. I previously posted how I have not been that excited about the planning process, I am excited to marry my FI but the planning has been very overwhelming for me. I am a pretty creative person (I’m an architect and interior designer) but have been having the hardest time trying to figure out my “vision” for the day. If you guys could help me at all with suggestions I would REALLY appreciate it. So far I have booked a venue that is very modern and on the Hudson River, there are windows around the whole venue and you can see the NYC skyline, the Statue of Liberty, and a marina. I have also decided that my bridesmaids will be wearing black gowns (Noir by Lazaro dresses), the wedding will be black tie as well. I am just so lost as to what to do for flowers and decorations. I think I want something modern but also classic and possibly some kind of color? My dress is kind of whimsical and romantic.
I am just so frustrated and lost with this whole process and any help at this point would be greatly appreciated!!

@Lbward6: do you have any pictures of the venue?

I would suggest going with “elegant” as your “theme.” You don’t need a real so called theme because it soulds like your venue, the view and the formality of the attire will set the tone. Work with your florist and she can help guide you and get you excited again about decor. Another person to rely on is the catering manager at the venue. They should have tons of ideas and will know what works and doesn’t work for your venue. Enjoy- it soulds like you will have a very beautiful wedding and reception.

@Lbward6: For a modern venue, I would stick with something simple.
one peony with some greens in a footed vase
succulents and white flowers in bamboo steamers
test tubes sit in holes drilled in 2×2
same thing with colored flowers

@LilyBee70 that would be a good idea to add photos!!
this is where the cocktail hour will be held
this is where the ceremony and reception will be, this is how it looks during the day
this is what it looks like at night all lit up
this is just to get an idea of what the baclony and outside looks like, we are going to have heaters outside so people can enjoy the view in November.

@Lbward6: WOW! That venue is spectacular! I’d browse a ton of wedding photos/blogs/etc, start taking note of what you like/don’t like. Then work from there! 🙂 Good luck!
