Got a question for you, would you guys hire a DOC outside your area? Why or why not? How about a trade where you get DOC services in exchange for travel/accomodations? The reason I am asking is because I’m considering it but I don’t want brides to think that its being offered because of lack of experience and etc. I was hoping that by offering it would be a way reach out into other markets.
And another question, has anyone been with their guy for 12-14 years before getting engaged? If so, how did you feel about the wait. Not engaged yet but it has crossed my mind to want to be engaged now LOL….at first it started off as just having a great relationship with no worries about getting married but now that its been that long, it weighs heavily on mind. But the pressure is always on due to families pushing us to get married! Makes me a little nervous because I love our relationship, just wonder if getting engaged will change the vibe. Not sure if I’m making sense lol but hopefully someone gets it!
Thank you and I appreciate your help! 🙂

SimplyUnique021: I would want a DOC from in/around my area because they would have the contacts and knowledge of who’s who and what’s what. I wouldn’t want to “train up” a DOC in my area per se. Can you give us an idea of where you are and where you’d like to reach out to? Are you in PA but want to reach out to new markets in VA? If so, that’s a big leap, geographically and perhaps even a bit so given regional cultures.

LilRhodyGem: Thanks so much for your input! 🙂 I totally understand! I’m based out of PA but have done a few DOC weddings in NYC, Atlanta, & Las Vegas. But before doing them I made sure I did my research as far as knowing the area and who to to work with. Well my motto is “Planning weddings & events nationwide & anywhere else you’d like us to be”….and with that my goal is to be able to travel and assist brides wherever I am needed. Yes I agree its definitely a big leap where I am from but not impossible (I hope) just a little harder. Do you think I’m in way over my head?

I’d totally hire you for DOC if you did it in exchange for travel fees/hotels. My wedding is June 2015 in New Hampshire, if you’re interested haha

- Wedding: September 2014 - Dallas, TX
SimplyUnique021: As long as you are familiar with the area. I live in Dallas but my DOC is from Austin. She comes to Dallas fairly frequently and is familiar with the area/venues/vendors. She is much more affordable though than DOCs in Dallas.

kimmo416: Thank you for your input! 🙂 Yes that is definitely one of the things I always want to make sure that I do, is make myself familiar with the areas I get hired for so I can actually be of help to brides. That’s why those 3 cities I listed so far that I’ve done would be one of my stronger areas because I’ve traveled there a lot. So that definitely makes sense thank you so much! 🙂
