This is my first post and I am writing because I need help! Last night I went to pick out the groom and groomsmen’s ties. I was getting help from someone at Men’s wearhouse – he was VERY VERY opinionated and some what intimidating. Anyway…I told him that the men were wearing dark grey suits, white shirts and I was looking for Dark purple ties.
He asked what color my dress was. I told him “Champagne with an Ivory Lace overlay.” This is when he freaked! He told me that if the guys had white shirts my dress was going to look dingy next to them…I couldn’t believer that he said my dress would look DINGY! Anyway I need your thoughts. I really don’t like Ivory colored dress shirts – but I also don’t want my dress to look “Dingy” haha. DO you think this will be a problem??
Anyone do Ivory dress and White shirts?

It won’t be a problem, especially if the guys are wearing a vest or jacket over their shirts. You really can’t tell unless you layer the white shirt over the ivory dress, which I suspect you’re not planning on doing. It’ll be fine 🙂

I plan on doing white shirts with my ivory dress. I really don’t think it’ll matter. It’s not like the white will be directly next to your dress, they’ll be wearing jackets right? I wouldn’t worry about it at all. I’m not.

I’m having white shirts & my dress is ivory! Hold the shirt up next to your dress if your worried

im doing the same..my dress is a light ivory, the jackets of the suite/tuxes wuth set it off anyway..i wouldnt worry

It doesnt matter. Even if you get Ivory shirts for the men, it will still not be an exact match to your dress because ivory shirts are more yellow than Ivory gowns.

Your dress will NOT look dingy! Your FI’s suit will be next to your dress not his shirt.
Do a search here on WeddingBee for many more posts for some extra reassurance.

@jaykayel: I’m doing the white shirts and my dress is ivory. Those Mens Warehouse “ivory” shirts are yellow!! EW! My dress is NOT that color.

This is a guest photo, but I had an ivory dress and DH wore a white shirt. I don’t think it looks dingy…

Don’t worry about it, your dress will not look dirty.

I’ll echo PPs…. ivory and white work fine together. My dress was ivory and his shirt was white.

I did ivory dress and white shirts as well. I do NOT like the look of ivory shirts at all! All the pics looked great. Not to worry.
