How about a DIY photobooth? Still do a version of a guest book (but make it highly personal) and a first dance, cake cutting. Small weddings can be very fun!
are you having a dj/ music? how much decorating are you allowed/ want to do? Our venue is a restaurant by day/ wedding venue by weekend so I have the same issue creating the space into a wedding one
Its actually outside, we just have a section because the outdoor area is huge and there will be a band but its for the restaurant they're not 'our band'. we are doing centerpieces, a signature plate for the guest book, a cake table (but cupcakes) and favors. That's about all the ' wedding' things we have going on so far.
Sounds awesome! Would the restaurant allow paper lanterns or something hanging? Would you have the man-power to even do that? Just something to think about...
What I am doing is adding black overlays to the white linen provided. It gives the room a much different look and makes it look much less "retauranty"If your centerpieces don't have candles, maybe you want to add candles to each table to give it some ambiance. Also, you may want to think about shepards hooks with flowers or some kind of decorations. hope that helps!
If it's during the day, you could have some lawn games set up - croquet, "corn hole," bocce, etc. I'm really hoping to do the same at my wedding to give people an alternative if they don't want to dance! If you'd rather have something that everyone can participate in, have you heard of the Shoe Game?
Theres alot of little lights on the trees outside already, I love the shepards hook idea! Its in the evening and there is not any open are to set up games.ill have to look into the shoe game! Im really looking for some type of activity to get guests involved! Thanks!
that's cool that there are a lot of lights aleady outside... our venue is similar. Personally, I LOVE little white lights and had to have them at our wedding! Good luck with your venue set up and post some pictures!!
SO many ways to jazz up a small reception! martha stwerat .com has SO many cute ideas!

Im having a hard time coming up with ideas for oursmall reception. Were having a jp ceremony with only parents then reception with family and close friends at a restaurant, about 45 guests. Not interested in the boquet/garter toss but wanting to do something to entertain and make it feel like a wedding and not just a big dinner!
