Your title could have been written by me – I’m curious to hear what the other bees say, too!

@smores:  @Juliepants:  Same here!! I just posted a question on the 6 month+ thread but haven’t got any answers. Here was my question:

Ladies I have an OPK question. Do intensity of the lines gradually get darker the closer to surge or can they get darker, then lighter, then back to darker before you get your positive? I’m so confused. I did my first OPK 7/11 very faint line, 7/12 am was the darkest line I’ve got so far but not quite positive, 7/12 4:00pm light line, and this morning another light line but a little darker than Yesterday’s 4:00 but lighter than Yesterday’s am test. ?

I’m so confused. This is the first time for me using OPK’s and I’m not charting. I started Clomid for the first time this cycle and I’m having weird ovary pains but not my normal O pains that give me signs that O is here. I have also noticed increase in cm but now ewcm or sticky, just watery. Help, Help, HELP.

Don’t mean to thread jack but I think we all have the same questions right now.

MY EWCM was always 3-4 days before my actual O date.  Are you testing multiple times a day? Could you have missed your surge?  I’m not an expert, because in 7 months of TTC, I only got 2 positive OPK’s but I was certain I was still ovulating.

@Yellow.Clover:  I think that 7/12 4:00pm test was a fluke- did oyu drink a lot of water that day?  I bet you would have gotten a + on 7/12 (mid day), O’d on 7/13 and started to have a fade out.  JUST A GUESS though.  If you test again this afternoon and it’s lighter than this AM, it would seem like that could be the case.

I have a love/hate relatoinship with OPKs- I love knowing when I O, but I rarely feel like I get definitive answers from OPKs! Why do the digitals have to be so damn expensive?!

@MRSLMA:  Oh thank you so much for you answer! I guess I’m just so confused because I usually get O pains and with the clomid it says you generally O 5 days after the last pill. Yesterday would’ve been 2 days after the last pill. But to answer, yes, I did drink lots of water. I’m going to cut back around noon today and retest around 4:00 again. I really really hope it wasn’t because we have not BD since Monday night. Oh boy, better BD it up tonite! : )

Just wanted to wish all you ladies luck! I didn’t get along with the OPK’s (cheapies)… I tested for like 3 weeks and never got a + (i missed my O date as my cycle was 59 days long LOL, I started testing at CD9!)  and I swear the stress from testing scared my egg away LOL. I won’t be doing them again this cycle but know how frustrating it can be.

In addition to what MRSLMA: said, I also get EWCM a couple days before O, which I’ve only noticed after the last couple charting months. I thought those would be my O dates, stopped BD’ing only to realize that we quit too early. I usually have wet, then EWCM and then nothing for 2 days and O. So, don’t give up. And.. the charter in me suggests trying it if you really want a neat picture of what you body is doing – i don’t know how people keep sane not knowing exactly what’s going on!

Also, some people get a fade in, others don’t. So if your lines get darker and darker and then nothing, don’t give up. You could get a + really anytime! I got several “almost” positives through my cycle but never got to see a true one.

@StaceyA:  Thank you for the encoragment. I really think I will start charting next month and maybe drop the OPK’s. I was going to do both this month but thought doing both would be a little too much for me. Wishing you luck as well.

@Yellow.Clover:  Thanks hun. I found the OPK’s stressful, not seeing the + really made me question, stress, overthink etc. Once I stopped, I O’d about a week later. Coincidence, probably, but I decided not to do them this round. Charting has been awesome. Had I not been charting last month I would have 100% thought I was pregnant due to being so “late”. Charting told me that not only was I not late, I hadn’t ovulated at all!!! It’s really quite neat. If you decide to do it there are a ton of ladies in the Charter’s thread that are super helpful. I highly recommend it. 🙂 Hope you get a + OPK this cycle regardless!

Thanks for sharing, ladies.  Somthing that one of you said made me think I didn’t test for long enough after my EWCM.  Oh well, another month bites the dust.  🙂

ETA: I have JUST started charting and wasn’t actively “trying” this month so I didn’t mean to sound like I’ve had this long, hard journey.  I had just been hoping to get more information this month.  No biggie. 🙂

So irritated right now. : (  Just took another test and complete negative. Maybe just a fraction of the slightest line possible. I’m so upset. It’s like I didn’t even have a chance. I just don’t understand why I would O so soon? I’m CD 12. This bites. I’m sure even if we were to run home and BD at this moment, I’d still be out. How crazy. SMH.

@Yellow.Clover:  i wouldn’t give up just yet – you said they told you you’d O 5 days after the last pill?? And you’re only 3 days after?? I’d keep testing for a couple more days. Also, if you have a thermometer, you *could* start charting now – you won’t have a good idea of your baseline, but you should be able to see a temp jump to confirm O if you get a +ve in the next day or so…

@smores:  a variation of a couple of days wouldn’t be SOO crazy – I’d keep testing, considering that EWCM.

I know that OPKs get a bad rap sometimes, but I would have missed my Ovulation day this month if I wasn’t using them – with my wonky cycle I can’t predict a date, so luckily I happened to test on a day I was sure I didn’t have enough EWCM and sure enough, there it was! Confirmed with a temp rise the day after O.

@hamikay:  thanks lady, I didnt think about starting to chart now. I did however read after my little tantrum, sorry guys, that while taking clomid you can get false readings on an opk if you test too early. So FX thats what happend. Sheww. Too late for temp this morning, but I will temp tomorrow. Thanks so much! =)
