Cheeky question but my local Vera Wang show has offered one of their sample gowns to me for a very good price. The dress has been in the shop since it was first released in early 2011 and is in a pretty bad condition. The dress itself has quite the deconstructed look though so I don’t mind that too much.
However, I have been toying with the idea of getting JBS to make me a replica dress which would probably cost about a third of the VW sample gown, so am a bit torn. Do you think it would be cheeky to suggest a lower price to Vera Wang? I’m talking maybe another 10% off the purchase price?
Can you in general negotiate when it comes to wedding dress prices, especially for sample gowns?
Looking forward to hearing/reading your thoughts, bees! Thaaank you!

I would personally rather buy a preowned dress that has been worn once than a sample dress that has been tried on countless times. The discount is often the same or better for a dress in pristine condition. Have you looked on oncewed or preownedweddingdress.com? There is a large selection of Vera Wang dresses available.

louisianablue: Thank you for that suggestion. Yes, I’ve been looking for one of my favourite gowns on those websites for ages but can’t find anything suitable. Either the dresses have been hemmed too much (I’m pretty tall so need all the length I can get), or they’re too expensive or (more often than not at the moment) the sellers turn out to be fakes… not an amazing experience so far!
Plus the sample dress is cheaper than most preowned dresses that I’ve seen and liked.

I say try it. Why not? The least they can say is no.

I agree that you might as well ask and see what they say…esspecially if you’re already considered just getting a replica made. If they say no and you don’t want to pay that much then go with another option for getting the dress.

Just wanted to update this. The shop has accepted my proposed price which is 20% less than the sample price (which is already only 1/7 of the actual price)! Whoop whoop!!! So glad to be able to say that the wedding dress hunt is overrrr!
